I've learned so much from you. The most important thing I've learned from you was just to say " it's just a silly owl..or silly Wood Spirit, or silly flower... ect.." At the end of the day, I created the fanciest firewood in Maryland and it was fun! Thank You Jordy!

I loved this video. Watched the whole thing. I am in an area of the US where all I can get for logs are pines. This inspired me, Jordy. You are awesome.

Thank you Jordy! I find you easier to learn from....I’m 65 and can’t handle a chainsaw, so my husband blocks out the owl as best that he can. I then use my angle grinder with arbortech blades and arbortech carving tools to finish it...I can handle that...carefully of course🙂! So all you older women, you can still make an owl! Thank you!

Jordy, I believe the very center of a log, ( that is where alk the growth rings start) is referred to as pith.

Very smart to practice on a piece to check out the wood...Evil Rick may be right about the sap in the stump...also..depending on the moon cycle when it was felled...whether the sap was rising..full or growing moon..or low sap..in the roots for decreasing or new moon...just something to look at when you get to the stump... Your owls are getting better everytiime...loving the tail...yay !...👍😉...🌿🌿🌿

All we have to carve in Pennsylvania is pine. Generally white pine is the best to carve. Hemlock can be carved wet, but is so hard when it dries that you can’t pound a nail into it. We can’t get western red cedar here.

Hey Jordy good job but if you think that the head is a little thin you can thin the body down to make the head apportioned to the body just my suggestion nice to see you challenge your self Jordy

Jordy on your advice I bought a Stihl170 with carving bar, quarter inch chain etc, but it vibrates loose and falls off: will try it tighter today, any other advice? I’m carving soft poplar or cottonwood....

I do have the right sprocket but the bar still vibrates loose, nuts undo, bar falls off, shall I just tighten it more or adjust chain tension nut further, can’t talk to my stihl shop coz we’re in lockdown and shopkeepers are anal about it

I've noticed that the chainsaw chain is seemingly very loose , hanging off on the bottom of the bar, is that how it must be for carving? I've only just started carving with an electric chainsaw and the instructions of my saw says the chain is much tighter than the ones you use, am confused help?

If the owl is curious his head will be taller and thinner. If it is defensive it will be tucked shorter and fluffier, it's a darn good job!

I got you just made down in the face to moving back in the long looks like it make a hell of a two dimensional owl

Every body yells when they have plugs in their ears. I think there's some kind of ZIN connection between the ears and mouth. When your ears don't hear they force the mouth to talk louder. Nature is weird like that. Something that might make a difference from the piece and the stump. A pine tree, when it gets a limb broken or a woodpecker digs a hole, whatever, will push extra sap up from the roots to cover the wound. Fatwood, that you buy in the store is from a pine tree that has been cut down but has a stump left. The tree will push sap up to try to heal the wound. The stump, after some time, is then cut and split into the pieces that are in the box of fatwood. That's just a long winded way of saying that the stump might have more sap in it than the piece you did here. Yah, I know, I'm boring. Hi Jordy.
@pamelalee15083 жыл бұрын
Hi Evil... Yep..use fat-lighter wood to start fires...some folks have no idea what that is..👍😉...🌿🌿🌿
