The window motor/door control module is a rare item to actually have fail. And you have to make sure it's not only the right part number but also the right "color code" based on the car's VIN number to properly match and be able to talk to everything else on the convenience system data bus (central convenience and electronics module, all the other door modules etc). What IS common, however, is for these early mk5 Jettas to have broken wires in the door harness. VW had an extended warranty for them even because it was so common (but generally ends after the car is 10 years old or older). They have an updated harness that's a fair bit longer that supposedly prevents the harness from bending excessively in the same location, leading to eventual wire breakage. While the extended warranty is long gone, they should still have the updated harness at a more reasonable price than a new door module.

I had an 89 Ford Probe GT have its driver side regulator cable fray and fail. The dealership told me it would be cheapest to buy a used door. They quoted me $600 to do it, and that was back in the mid 90’s.

The VW dealership wanted approx $1200.00 US dollars to replace my 2008 VW 2.5 Rabbit vacuum pump and gasket.(the same one in this video).. (this is when my new mechanic - a guy who has a shop since the 1970's, and only works on VW's and Audi's was found).... my new mechanic said, "you don't need a new pump"...he fixed for approx. $275.00. Can easily replace spark plugs, air filter myself... AND that coolant reservoir Hoovie mentioned leaked in the middle ... $35.00 to replace.... My new mechanic said that the rust...(the tiny bit right above front tire)...was from the sound deadening foam located up in the fender, he pulled both foam blocks out of both front fenders.... He also said its a good car, and that he could get a new engine if needed for approx $900.00 ....it has approx 170,000 miles. He has a unique way of checking the transmission fluid, however, have to leave it at the garage overnight....has to be cold....then he adds transmission fluid by temperature somehow.

The headliner on my son’s 2009 Jetta was one of the first things (of many) to go.

I LOVE HOOVIE being in these videos. Maybe it's the pandemic, but I really like the goofy remarks and light attitude. We need this more then ever!

My first VW was an 07 Rabbit 4-door with the 2.5, it was a very dependable introduction to the brand. Two 1.8's & a 1.6 TSI in the three leased VWs following it, I recently came back to the late 2000 era with an 09 Passat wagon. Saving up for the timing chain refresh on the 2.0 gen 1 TSI, next year my local VW specialist shop will be $3k better off for my love affair with the brand. Nothing feels more like my kind of vehicle than a black VW!

With Tyler, the spit take is not a lost art. He must remember Danny Thomas from his childhood.

Hoovie had his channel for quite some time, he bumped into the Wizard and did some business, and they kinda clicked, as some times that happens. He convinced the Wizard that youtube wasn't a waste of time, now look at the result, the Wizard's channel has gone viral, I wonder why... Together they remind me of the Two Ronnies, but with added mechanical magic... man I need a drink.

Car Wizard = Bob Ross of auto mechanics. Hoovies greatest take.

That was funny, I actually felt in a good mood after watching. Hoovie and Wizard should do more collabs

"It's fun to do a video with you" = I'm willing to put up with you for an hour or so a week since your continued patronage is going to pay for my kid's college, my yacht project, the wife's Maserati...
