The E46 M3 still holds up well today. It's a drivers car and still puts a smile on my face every time I drive mine. I don't have to be the fastest car on the road, but I know that there is something special about owning one and being able to enjoy every moment behind the steering wheel.

E46 is a brilliant car, no question, but I like my E36. For me, while the 46 is a better sports car, the 36 is a better car to live with every day. After 13 years of ownership, It still thrills me every time I drive it. TBH I was quite pleased how well it stood up in the drag race, but I think mine would have been closer. For one thing, mine doesn't smoke when you rev it.... just saying

Sure, the engine sound was incredible, the diff magic, and of course it looks really nice. This is real drag racing, not those automatics so you just press the gas pedal nonono. Manual shifter is where you need real skill and you depend a lot on your shifting skills.

Yeah, the older cars take it for sound, I was very disappointed when I bought a e39 528i to replace my old e34 535i, (thats the straight 6 version not the v8 they did later) it sounded absolutely amazing, made you want to boot it out of every junction and off every roundabout. Was bloody fast too! Would pull 105mph in 3rd!

My opinion: E30: Oldschool charme E36: worse E46 E46: timeless piece of art E92: German Muscle F82: German Engineering at it's best. G82: The ugly one nobody likes. Btw, the E36 is a great car in my opinion, but it just isn't as good as the E46.. and it's basically the same price, less reliable and it looks like a 328i with M-Package.

jame conradi , glad you enjoyed them. For me after the E34 m5 is was a massive disappointment. I then got an e39 m5, which is the best car overall I have ever owned. However the e34, last of the hand built ones, still was the dogs dangly bits. IMHO
