Hello. I've just popped in to say that I've had my Mazda cx60 for nearly two weeks. I opted for the Homura, all the packages PHEV in the deep blue. I LOVE it. I do plug it in every night to domestic AC 3-pin (external, Plug in vehicle compliant) and have achieved 200 mpg and 39 miles on a full battery. My last car was a Volvo XC60 R design diesel - so similar in size. Things I've noticed: the 20 inch tyres are more forgiving than I had expected given the various reviews of the car. Mine has had all the recall items fitted/adjusted and I find the ride firm without the 'fidget' described. Road noise is more than acceptable compared to my Volvo and it corners as if on rails - again, compared to my AWD Volvo on 19" wheels - which inspires confidence and minimises body roll. I'm still 'learning' the car and am enjoying it immensely. I looked at other PHEVs as Matt suggested: The French equivalent was more expensive and its style will date easily. The Germans - well, £15k more for similar size but much lower spec. The Honda CRV was similar as was the Toyota RAV - but I just didn't like their 'loud' interiors. The Mazda oozes quality and has quiet interior styling. Perfect

Agree, waitting for mine. But i'm desapointed with people who test the car with a kind of destructive mission, not objective. Using a wood , knocking at the inside parts of the car as if it was a piece of vulgar plastic. Many test are much more objectives even if they crit the negative points, videos are made for. Just look at "Mazda has mostly fixed the CX-60" , very interesting test. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJPYlZd_aNl9f6c

Matt had a pre-change model to test. Mazda is soundproofing the doors differently and there is no longer a strange sound when closing. The same applies to suspension work. As for acceleration: strange, but the CX60 has the best acceleration time in off-road mode.

"never let you down" Only mine did. It had this horrible thrumming sound between 25 and 45 MPH - sounded like a window left open a bit and the resonance that you get. But it seemed to be from the transmission. They tried to fix it (prop shaft replacement) but failed, then no-one seemed to know what to do. Not just my car - they had some others with the same issue and people on forums were reporting the issue - some dating back to December 2022 and still no fix. Only on the PHEV. I ended up returning it. Shame as it was a really nice car but I lost confidence in the technology and the support processes.

@@jdmguy44 Soo.. why do you think I bought the CX-60 PHEV? I had expectations of using it as a retirement vehicle. Sadly that did not work out. When something (that the dealership and Mazda network) could not resolve after a couple of attempts in my car - and others - I lost confidence in tis vehicle being a long term proposition. The issue appeared to be that 'something' in the drive train (apparently) seemed to be 'wrong', assembly issue, misaligned parts, out of balance shafts, no-one seems to know... then you have to wonder if the vibrations underlying the 'thrumming' will leave the owner with a series of transmission related issues down the line. after warranty has expired etc. It's a new and very cool drive train (one of the reasons I bought it - I liked the concept) but it does have an ICE with clutch in line with the EV motor and another clutch and the 8 speed gearbox. Great idea (you always have 4 wheel drive irrespective of EV / ICE / Hybrid drive) but it seems that if it has not been assembled well or there is a duff part then you have issues.

Been running one of these CX- 60 PHEVS for the last 3 months and have nicknamed it "The Bungalow" as it is a big SUV. Bad points, very firm suspension, never really feels planted, particularly on motorways, so not overly relaxing to drive and the combined fuel economy (I charge it regularly) has never bettered 39mpg and it has safety features that annoy, two in particular, for no real reason it will sound a warning and flash on the screen "Distracted Driver Detected" which means if you weren't you certainly are now and when driving on a road that has parked cars on both sides and you reach a slight bend it sounds an even louder warning and a big "Brake" appears on your screen as it believes a collision is imminent, this has the ability to scare the bejesus out of you and any passengers on board. Good points, lots of space, great standard spec (although I agree that ACC should be part of that) great driving position and with a fully charged battery, Sports mode will see you surprise more than a few drivers on how it can move, particularly the mid range acceleration which is somewhat brisk to say the least. Overall a good value for money SUV which can be seen as a credible alternative to the likes of BMW and Audi.

@steveshaw6560
@steveshaw6560 8 ай бұрын
@@pawkaster Nothing on the 12v battery warning but plenty elsewhere. For clarity I am running this as a company car so the issues have had minimal impact on me personally but could on a private buyer. The initial CX60 went back to a Mazda dealership as the steering was faulty, which I believe is a known fault with a particular batch of cars, which involves a complete replacement steering rack that has to come from Japan and can be anything up to 3 months to arrive (after my first had been in the garage for 5 weeks I rung and they simply could not tell me when it was likely to arrive and the repair completed) Spoke with the lease company and they sent me a replacement, which promptly broke down on the way to my house with a complete electrical failure and the dashboard doing a good impression on the Blackpool illuminations. Back to the lease company, another one was to be sent, this one had an issue with the bonnet not being able to close properly, back again to the lease company and I am now on my 4th CX60 which, in the 6 days and 450 miles driven is seemingly holding together although for how long who knows?? One thing I will say is that, through all of this, Mazda have been really "on point" with their customer service and this is the main reason I have stayed with the brand and model despite being offered a variety of different cars via the leasing company.

Couple points, the 3 pin plugs are optional, and as much as the spec down is technically a spec down, its not really. The equipment level is the same. Just because it's a little cheaper its identically equipped. I imagine the price differences are the interior materials and the diamond cut wheels. It's also not turbocharged like you said at the end of the video. The engine is NA, like 90% of the other engines in Mazdas. The only turbo engines are the diesels

Corrections from what Matt Watson said.... Just for your information: Touch screen is available in Apple car play mode when you are stationary to make it easier to navigate through. The Adaptive cruise control is a part of a pack - Yes it is £1100 however you do also get - Cruising an traffic alerts, front cross traffic alert, smart brake support (front and back) Adaptive LED's and then the i-adaptive cruise and radar cruise control. Brakes don't always squeak. This is the first one I have known to do it. It will do 40 miles to a range - this is why you get the 8% BIK. Thanks! :)

Holy crap you're right!! that's not good for Carwow integrity! I review wrist watches on my channel and had a brand threaten to sue me if I didn't remove a review of one of their watches as they were not satisfied with what I had to say. I simply pointed them to our first email Exchange where I said I have only one condition: I get to say whatever I want to say: The Good The Bad and everything in between, to which they agreed! After that they stopped threatening me and I never removed the video as I felt it would have made me a sell-out

Lots to like about the CX-60. Fully optioned, the price is a lot closer to an X-Trail, CR-V or RAV-4, not a Q5, NX or X3. But I don't understand Mazda making the top-spec Takumi model only available with the white interior. For an SUV, surely a dark interior option is a must, but only available that way on lower end models.
@LeeIsAlive
@LeeIsAlive Жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t really say that. Got the homura version since a few months now, got all the same tech in the Takumi (took packages available). So spec wise no diff except for the visual effects. I like the black accents on the outside a lot more. The white Takumi interior looked cool, but when you’ve got kids it’s a no go. Price wise there was an 800€ diff between Takumi and Homura, it’s something, but not such a great saving either.

I've been driving a CX-60 for almost half a year now. It's quite a nice car from an interior perspective but has so many flaws in details. Comfort is only mid due to suspension and connectivity and infotainment/display views aren't really thought through and are actually subpar. You can only connect one smartphone, which is still buggy to get into Carplay mode either cable or over the air. That directly disqualifies it as a business car. Onboard navigation and voice recognition are outright trash. The mirrors take forever to heat up, a hassle in rainy or ice weather conditions. The interior is more susceptible to getting dirty than any other car I drove before. Great car for short trips with family if the roads are sufficiently wide and the price is fair for the comfort package. Otherwise, I wouldn't buy it again and wouldn't recommend it to people driving a lot. Drove a Mazda 6 before I was quite happy with it, but this one is rather disappointing.

@@oliver_1997 based on experience of owning multiple Audi vehicles and had serviced and repaired them myself... Your experience is three years probably under warranty. You are paying for the impression of quality but the engineering is bloody atrocious. As an electrical engineer, who specialised in the aviation industry for over a decade and a half I know what quality is. Audi Volkswagen in fact the vast majority of German vehicles actually use the cheapest nastiest electrical componentry they can get their hands on... Then there is the rubber gaskets and plastics again cheap cheap cheap. The concept of German engineering is a fallacy. They are designed as a throw away item to be replaced at end of warranty. Even if your experiences have been fine.. Again probably within warranty.. Statistically the majority of their vehicles are poor quality and will fail or have issues. The sq5 Diesel engine is notorious for problems.. You may be just lucky but three years isn't a longevity test. Take a look at reliability ratings that multiple nations run and you see that they rank fairly low, in fact Mercedes is the worst out of the three of them. So that's why I say it
@oliver_1997
@oliver_1997 Жыл бұрын
@@phillippereira6468 Comparing the automotive industry to aviation is unrealistic, car's just aren't built to that standard. As I mentioned in my previous message. In my 5 years of driving Audi's and something like 15 years of Skoda's before that I've never had a single fault with any of my cars. If I did, they were all under warranty anyway so it wouldn't have been any drama. If you can afford the over all niceness of having something German rather than something that sounds like it'll break when you close the door or fidgets along our battered tarmac... Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and stick with Audi thanks

I'm struggling to find a replacement for my current car. It's a large 2019 estate with almost every conceivable option and a reasonable 247bhp - it's been fantastic and has not missed a single beat. I feel like the points picked up by Matt in this video would put me off, but I also don't want to spend a ridiculous amount on a fully loaded German equivalent for it to get scratched up in a car park. I'm fairly underwhelmed by what's on offer from almost every manufacturer!

I am an estate guy myself and although the CX-60 looks stupendous, I find myself looking to estates over SUVs more often than not. I have tried to stay away from Germans as well and the last time I had to buy a car, I went with Volvo and got a V90. Loads of equipment that in Germans are extra, in Volvo is standard (yes BMW, I am looking at your £5000 pack for adaptive cruise control). Volvo is killing the estates in the UK tho, also doubt mazda will do a new 6 , Lexus doesn't do estates unfortunately, Toyotas you can get them fairly well equipped but lacks the luxury bit. Skoda is also a decent option for estates with L&K trim for a bit more luxury and posh finish. The estate market is getting leaner. Which is a shame, I absolutely love them.

I test-drove the diesel version of this car yesterday. The power, interior design, and exterior appearance are impressive. It felt great driving on flat roads. However, the road noise was quite loud when driving over coarse chip at speed. It's not a quiet highway cruiser; instead, it's loud and boomy. The suspension feels cheap and doesn't effectively absorb bumps or road imperfections. Additionally, there was a small rattle in the dashboard. Overall, I would not recommend this car yet, but I'd like to one day, after Mazda do the engineering properly, and address the asking price.

oh Mafffew (🙃)... You know why manufacturers do not put real exhaust through the body cladding? You notice that particular Mazda has the real exhaust outlets pointed downwards. The manufacturers don't want to have to resolve issues with potentially melted body panels and trim bezels. They also don't want sooty deposits on the rear (especially with the Euro diesels). Try not to be so disappointed next time...😀
