It's time for an Audi hot hatch drag race! We've got the new Audi S3 going up against the old Audi RS3!
When you look at the stats on paper, these two mini maestros seem pretty evenly matched! Starting with the new Audi S3, it comes with a 2-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which can deliver 310hp and 400Nm of torque. It's also packing Quattro all-wheel-drive, and it weighs in at 1,575kg.
The old RS3 we've brought in is a 2012 model, and under the bonnet you'll find a 2.5-litre turbocharged 5 cylinder engine which can put down 340hp and 450Nm. As for the weight... It's exactly the same, coming in at 1,575kg!
So what do you think, does the old RS3 still have what it takes? Or will the all-new S3 have enough to bring down its older brother? There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!

@Warp 9.9 Really? Im clueless? 😂 where do I even begin.. The 8Y S3 and Mk8 Golf R use a EA888 Evo4, it doesn’t have an IS38 turbo. The turbo isn’t even from IHI, it’s from Continental. I was never talking about the IS38, but since we are on the subject, are you saying the IS38 on the 2.0T is “maxed” out at 380-400hp at the wheels or at the crank? You’re not wrong about that if you’re talking about whp, I have seen upwards of 400-420whp on ethanol with a stock IS38, however I wouldn’t push it that far. I was talking about crank hp, not wheel hp. A stock IS38 can achieve 450 crank hp, but I was talking about the 8Y S3/Mk8 R with the Continental turbo (06Q145703C), that can produce over 450 crank hp with a downpipe, full intake and a mapped ecu.

@@macky4074 more power is debatable. If the new s3 is anything like the golf R (which it should be) it probably makes around 350hp, plus that RS3 is a salvaged car. Only a dyno would tell the truth, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were even on the power output

For those unfamiliar with that engine it’s incredible. I have owned my 2012 TTRS since 2015 and I still love it. Even on my slow pump gas tune I walk all over most cars. That includes the 2 C7 corvettes that tried to race me on the highway and lost miserably haha. On E85 it’ll beat Hellcats as well and not just from a dig! And I still have a stock turbo!

Hey Mat, why don't you monitor the finish line from above with a drone to help with the close finishes, it would help a lot to see/calculate small differences especially when the car closer to the camera wins by a small margin (when the winning car blocks the view of the other one...)
