I only have one bird now a beautiful, intelligent cockatiel and I wouldn't know what I would do without him as he is a pleasure to be around, it is like Christmas day every day when I wake up to him, great company and rarely feel down because he cheers me up with his singing & whistling & trying to talk! This is his favorite channel as he was originally from an aviary, he isn't caged he free flies around the home & outside in the garden!

for me, this is like a little slice of heaven! my dream is to create an outdoor aviary for my cockatiels and budgies. I'm an American expat, living in central Italy. I'm not a builder in any way, and I'm 68...so me trying to construct this by myself is out of the question. My husband is disabled, so i'd need to hire someone. We do have a large covered enclosed area that we use for a dog kennel, and the other half chicken enclosure. So my idea is to take some of the kennel area....its pretty spacious...and wire it up for a bird enclosure. Im thinking of putting in a small garden shed in there, and insulating it. Thats my biggest concern...the cold. it gets in the low 30's here, and being in the hills, it gets windy too. Our cold season is November through mid April...usually. if I send you a video of the area I've described here, would you consider giving your opinion or any thoughts ?

lol...OK so if u knew me u'd know I don't really get into this kinda stuff at all. I'm a singer in metal band so use your imagination...lol. So, for me to say something like what I'm about to say seem crazy! I clicked on this by mistake and b4 I knew it I had watched almost 20 mins of this. Funny part is when I first got here I said "What the F*#k is this crap?!? lol. Never been a bird man but I actually think this was pretty awesome. I was once the singer in a heavy rock band too. Doesn't mean you can't like birds. Most people actually play these videos for their birds when they are at work which I thought was a little strange... but hey, if that is a thing, I'm willing to monetise it. I really enjoy this video,.....I wish I could make an aviary like that for my peeps. But I have lovebirds, parrotlets and cockatiels, I'm not so sure they would get along as well as your combination does. Lovebirds can be pissers! Is that cooked brown rice you are feeding them? It looks like they really like that! I will have to try it too. Mine get scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese sometimes, but I never thought of cooked rice. You live in a very high traffic area from all the car noises, but all the birds seem not to notice at all, I guess they grew up with that sound. I recognize the pheasants, and the button quail in your other videos, but what are the little green birds and then the next size up green and creamino ones? Are they all Grasskeets? They looks so happy to be doing what birds love to do most, picking around on the ground. You have made a wonderful place for them. I see you are from Austraila, so what do you do in the winter months? or are you in an area that doesn't really get that cold?

Yes it is cooked brown rice. I don't give them rice very often, just now and then when I think about it. Probably about once every 3-4 weeks. Yes our road is very busy. The small green parrots are Turquoisines from Australia. They are very cute and sweet. The larger green one is Sylvester, he is a Red Rump Parrot, and the yellow one is Tweety Pie, a lutino Red Rump. She is the ruler of the aviary. I have lots of videos on my channel about these 2 types of birds. I am actually from New Zealand, although I do spend a lot of time in Australia. What is that white stuff the birds are eating? Is it popcorn or bread or cheese? My bird, Perkins, pictured left, loves pancakes! And, like Patricia Treslove's bird, he is not caged. He did get out for 10 days 16 years ago, but fortunately I got him back. Made a deal with Sai Baba, and that's why I'm a vegetarian:)

Cooked Brown Rice. All the birds seem to eat a bit of it. I have given them other rices (white, black) in the past.

Thanks. I'll see if he likes it. He was ill, down to 63 grams about 2 months ago:( He is up to 75 grams now. I gave him some Avitech Formula One, and he gained weight pretty steadily. I had to hand feed him a mash made out of Harrison's High Potency Fine bird food with the Formula One mixed in 5 or 6 times a day . I'm still giving him the Formula One and he is doing really well on it. He's a picky eater, I got him from a pet store 20 years ago where he was raised with Parakeets and only ate their seed, so he won't eat big stuff, wet stuff, sticky stuff, just about any stuff! But I keep giving him the option just to see if he likes something, like pancakes;) I'll try the rice, he may like it. Thanks for the videos, he loves them!

My tiels are quite picky too and generally don't like wet or sticky stuff either. They won't eat fruit but love grass which is more like what they would eat in the wild. All our birds love the grass I give them more than anything else. Have you tried him on Broccoli? Thanks for watching.

Rubbish! The aviary only cost $1500 to build and the birds cost between $5 and $70 each and lots of them were breed in the aviary so I didn't have to buy them at all. I try to show through my videos that anyone can do this if they really want to.
