DESCRIPTION
After 38-year-old Johnny Altinger goes on a date with a woman he met online, his friends start receiving strange emails. Things appear to have gone so well that Johnny decided to join the woman on an impromptu trip to Costa Rica. I think whoever writes these scripts is a natural storyteller. Its not just the research but the structure of the information, when its revealed, its outstanding. Even the info in the description sets the scene and is so intriguing without revealing too much. Especially because personally I haven't heard of many of these cases so I have no idea which direction the 'story's will go.

I totally agree with you. Ever since I discovered this podcast I have literally been binge listening and neglecting my other subscriptions.

@@wiebkescantick947I did the same when I found this channel last year. Soon enough, you’ll be all caught up and listening to these a second time through, as I am right now. Problem is, it’s ruined me for other true crime podcasts. None of them even begin to measure up. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

You caught me unaware on this one. It actually took me a bit to realize which one it was. One of the reasons you are so good at this is because you focus on the people who mattered, not the monster that did the horrific act. Thank you for that. 😊

As always, well told with respect to victims and their families. Casefile is the first podcast I listened to and set the bar very high. I have found some others that are somewhat enjoyable but none come close to Casefile.

God help me I'm falling in love with the host's voice. And his aussie accent. i can't help. i just can't help it. Also the research done on this case, along with their previous episodes, is just fantastic.

Nope. Pretty standard "omg killers and killing is so cool and unique, I want to be cool and unique too xD" and took it a step further. Probably didn't mind the idea of prison because he thought it would make himself feel cool.

Agreed, no creativity at all. Every decision he made was 'Dexter did such and such so it will work for me too.' It's true that crim's are not often all that smart.

It makes me worried though because if you're innocent, you're still going to have an answer to everything even if that answer is just "I don't know I was at home" or whatever... but sometimes having an answer to everything makes you look even more sus, in the same way just not answering anything at all does! And getting a lawyer can help protect you if you're innocent, but also makes you looks sus. It's scary thinking of all the innocent people put away over botched interviews and investigations, though this case was very thorough and investigators did everything necessary to catch and convict the killer. Always good to hear ones with such outstanding work from law enforcement!

@Vexarax

@@VladRadu-tq1pg lol in what way? I feel I pretty clear and articulate. It’s a fact that an innocent person will still have an answer, even if the answer is “I don’t know what happened because I wasn’t there” and yes sometimes even basic things (like asking for a lawyer when you’re innocent) can make you look guilty. It’s also a fact that the investigators did a fine job on this particular case. Edit: So what about all of that makes me sound like a “perpetrator”? I’m actually interested to know 😅

Such a bizarre story. You don’t think of heterosexual men being lured by another ( presumably)heterosexual man. Scary stuff. I’m suspicious of everybody after hearing a few of these cases! Poor guys. Sickos are everywhere.

Bruh the reason you go to police is not just to report yourself as a victim its to ensure the perpetrator can not do it again. The first guy is like 30% culpable for Johnny's death omfg
