Nice to see the old Case rigid frames running - they were plentiful in the San Joaquin Valley in CA in the 70s and 80s. I had a dealer in Santa Maria CA that owned the 4WD market as they sold 4890.4894s with Wilcox rollover plows - 5 - 18s going 24 inches deep and it would walk them easily in the sandy muck soil (vegetables) and still turn around in the short headlands. Excellent video - the throaty rumble of the straight pipe brings me back as well but I don't know if I would want to listen it all day ..

I had a 2670 that I bought sight unseen in 2009 for $6,900.00. It had 1000 hr on the re-built engine and ran like a top. Just touch the key and it was running. I only used it for snow plowing my large acreage with a 1/4 mile long driveway. The blade I mounted was an old school steel funnel type off of a ‘70s highway plow truck and I built all the mounting brackets myself, bought 2 hydraulic cylinders and hoses, and it was ready for snow. Man, did that tractor ever push snow, drifts the height of the hood a couple of times. Sold it in 2014 for $7,500.00 with the plow once we moved to town. Sure do miss ‘er!

I remember disking when the wind was blowing in the 1970's Open station on a 285 Massey Ferguson pulling a 12 ft. disc . By the end of the day your ears nose would be full of dirt. Oh and your lungs. Dad never would buy a cab tractor. Today I have two cab tractors 1990 Massey Ferguson 3070 and 2004 John Deere 5320 and one small tractor open station IMT 539. Great video Case is one of my favorites.

Hi there, my father purchased the first J.I Case 2870 Traction King with a 6x22 on land plow from Marleau Garage Ltd in St-Bernardin Ontario in fall 1977. It was the first one sold in the area. I still have the ad from the local newspaper when he purchased it.

Former Scania employee and Saab enthusiast. Technicly Saab had nothing to do with this engine, Scania developed this from the start "great engine thou". Also love when people say its a bad engine because they have a hard time to find parts for it, For me its a phone call away and maeby 2-3 days shipping.
@ChevyConQueso3 жыл бұрын
Most people in the United States (and Canada) haven't even heard of Scania, which makes it tougher to get anything in time, especially with narrow planting windows. SAAB is definitely not a popular brand either. For the Europeans I imagine that's a much different story. I saw lots of Scania power there. Of course, finding 40 year old machine parts has probably gotten a little more difficult there too, but 3 days isn't bad. Bad engine? No. Bad choice for some farmers over another brand? Absolutely. They sure do sound sweet though with a straight pipe.

We run a pair of 4894's and a 2594. One has a straight pipe the other a muffler. The one with the muffler sounds much better, throaty and rich sound. Our oher tractors include 4-180 WHITE repowered with a DT 466 AND a 2090 JI case. All really good older iron.

Looks like damn near new rubber...that was an investment in itself! The straight pipe sounds cool in a 12 minute video...that noise level gets annoying when you’re sitting in the cab for 5+ hours and can hear yourself think...
