If you backhoe is leaking out of the steering valve where the steering shaft enters the valve theres no need to pull it... There is a seal kit available for the input.... just remove the wheel and coloum easy 15 minute job..... so when pulling the steering wheel, you will probably need to make a puller.... the 2 tiny threaded inserts are for holding the puller ONLY... dont yank on them they will break.... tighten the big bolt in the middle of your puller and use a hammer to tap it and snap it loose...

I was looking at one today thst won’t steer at all , the wheel moves but not the tires ?? What do you suggest? Thanks

It can only be the steering valve or both steering cylinders are bad at the front wheels. I just replaced my steering cylinders and they are like 100 or 200 for both on amazon I think crack one of the front steering cylinders and start it, turn the wheel and see if pressure is pumping through the steering cylinders. Is there enough hydraulic fluid? either steering valve is bad and it usually leaks BAD when it goes bad.. …..or one of the front cylinders is bad and all the fluid is going through it instead of turning the tires. Good luck

I just bought one like that chad. Both steering cylinders have 1/4" crud on them. Im guessing my problem lays under that crud.

Randy, How did you get the lines off the valve? The center line on mine just busted.
@randywilson68167 жыл бұрын
HI Frank, you have to take the bottom one off, then the next then the next. I don't think you can just start in the middle as you can't get to them unless there are special tools. I was removing it so all of the lines had to come off
@randywilson68166 жыл бұрын
HI Frank, sorry I missed your question. You have to start at the bottom and take them all off one by one. lots of fluid in your face too! Not sure where the other ends go as I was just taking the valve out to have it rebuilt

HI Randy How much did it end up costing to have the seal replaced?
@randywilson68167 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry I never saw this and can't answer from my phone. sacramento case dealer was around $500 for them to rebuild it.

Where do you buy the rebuild gasket kit from?
@randywilson68166 жыл бұрын
HI Eric, I don't know on the kit. The case mechanic said it was pretty touch getting it all lined up and done correctly. I took it off then gave it to them to rebuild. They did it pretty fast and it has been working

Exactly what was the issue? My machine requires constant wheel work to "steer" I have near zero turning ability now.
@randyb81085 жыл бұрын
The issue was a steady stream of fluid dripping from the steering valve. What sounds like you have is what I just had a few months ago and the two steering cylinders on the front axle have gone out. when the seals in them go bad they will not steer. It started that I had to keep turning the wheel to the right to get it to steer. Then it got so bad I couldn't steer straight without keep turning the wheel. Replaced both cylinders from amazon I think...2 for 175 I think. swapped them out and works great. Good luck

Hey Chris, hope you fixed the issue. I just had that a while ago and it was the front cylinder went bad. I just bought a new pair and replaced them both 100 or 200 on amazon for both the right and left. fixed the problem

Hey Floyd, I think it was $550 or $600 to have it rebuilt in Sacramento. I'm about 30 minutes away. I guess they are pretty tricky from what I was told but it seems to work well.
