While doing business we do select only one business and not worried about what others are doing or earning. In stock investing few business, as no direct control, 5-8 stocks are more than enough, whatever may be portfolio size. Business is all about taking positive calculative risk. One can't do business with mindset of an employee. What if the said investor is beating the benchmark or not, he is enjoying his journey while taking care of all his need. Points to remember 1) Whatever amount you have invested has nothing to do in direct stock investing what is your current value is all that what you have, if you are in loss and feel you have done a mistake book loss immediately and move to other stock, else wait patiently, with time you will be profitable. 2) If one just follow percentage distribution among large cap, midcap and small cap, you are looking for guaranteed/ safe return in an uncertain business environment. There is no sucess formula in direct stock investing it's all about taking calculative positive risks.

Statistically in India, on an average 50% mutual funds beat index fund every year. Primarily this might look like one can choose mutual fund have have a 50-50 chance of doing better than the benchmark.. BUT the key factor is that, that list of 50% mutual funds changes every year... Which means the mutual funds which CONSISTENTLY beat index fund OVER A NUMBER OF YEARS is very very small.. so if you do not like the probablity of finding those very few mutual funds, then investing in index fund insures that you don't underperform the bechmark. So INDEX FUND Investment over a long period of time is the best bet for most of the investors

That wisdom of fund manager you are talking about which he has learnt from years of "experience" has come from making a lot of mistakes. Those mistakes are someone else's money! Yes Sir l, I completely agree that consultants should perform their duties effectively. However, I have a question regarding the prevalent phenomenon where 70-80% of mutual funds fail to outperform benchmarks over 3-5 year periods. Given their expertise, consultants should consistently surpass benchmarks by a significant margin, not just by 1-2%. Why do consultants continue to invest in companies with negative returns, holding onto losing investments for the long term, instead of reassessing their strategy and reallocating resources to more profitable opportunities?

Clients do this kind argument for tax advisory as well and once they received notice they request for help. Last week one referral client came to me with income tax notice for 22-23.. his income was 35lac, his employer deducted 8lac tax from his salary, he himself filled couple of revised returns and claimed all the exemptions and claim refund for all taxes (8lac). Now income tax sent notice to him saying "submit all the exemption proofs" now he came with "sir settlement karva do". I told him " Settlement vagara nahi hoti, pay 11lac now with all the interests and panelties.

In this case I disagree, respectfully. There is no way to know if the advisor / fund manager would have done any better. More than 50% of PMS and AIFs are giving below bench mark returns. Also, if a fund manager is unable to beat it in first year, we are told that we should give it time and it is a long term game etc etc. So, we should give this person enough time to see the results. Fund managers are as clueless as any one else beyond one year horizon. So, assuming most fund managers would have beaten his returns is a fallacy

If index funds is the answer then there is no need for any funds managers. As they hope to beat the bench mark returns, he is also hoping to do better. There is no right or wrong in this. His approach is fine. He gets happiness in investing by himself. He will learn and do better next time. So, instead of advising to go to an advisor, please inform him about the do's and don'ts of self investing and risks.

Sir what you are saying is right but i have mentioned already in some other video of yours that some people want to invest by their own they don't want exceptional returns they just want to check in long run if their choice was a correct one or not sir.. It's about the kick sometimes and i think people should try this more in sideways market cuz that is the time people actually bleed money cuz in bull market everyone is a hero in a bearish market also nowadays its recovering within a day cuz of retail participation but it is actually the consolidating market where your advice will be valued more... Sorry but I don't agree to the major portion of the video. It's patience that helps u make money in the market & not constant monitoring of portfolio. . It took 10 ( 2007-2017)years for sensex to move from 20k to 30k & only 3 years for it to move from 40k to 80k. But an investor who has patiently done his SIP for the 10 years of underperformance is now reaping in the benefits. Also money deployed before 2014 is now giving u returns. Hence this fallacy of expert giving advice is BS. A simple investment in benchmark Nifty ETF can also take care of ur savings.
