I don't think you can get anything better than a good old Poljot or Sekonda De Luxe for simple clean lines that go with anything. I have one of the larger Soviet collections out there and I do like my Sekonda De Luxes a lot but then I am a bit biased and don't think there is a bad Soviet watch ever hehe I have ranging from '47 Vostok 2602's to NH35 powered CCCP Time canteen crowns, a "1977" Zlatoust to a Poljot-uhren "Zlatousted" Poljot 3133, messing around fresh from Ukraine another Raketa perp calendar as I watched this vid :) Today's wear is my Sekonda tank auto, a much higher quality Slava tank exported to the UK market in the 70s.

For the 2209 watch, Luch had straight line brushing on the caseback. Poljot was circular. Not a big deal but wanted you to know. Someone has worked on this watch. The dials without numbers are beautiful. Thank you for showing everyone this!

Sadly, this whole Poljot is a Franken, it is indeed a Luch case like you pointed out, but if you go on the site, you can see the movement is produced by Luch too, and the dial is Chinese

60's watches were incredibly thin - I have a cheap one that is 8mm thin, and 4mm are the domed crystal! Too bad they don't make them like that any more. Today, if you want a very thin watch you must go for quartz, and even there, 8mm is a bit of a unicorn.

Hi Tim,the black vintage one is stunner!! I like the newer one too, except for the strap. It looks like an old hippy cobbled that up.In true keeping with the style an expanding band/ a nice Speidel or Fix O Flex - would do the trick! Great vid ,Cheers

Hi Tim, this Poljot Samara has the best of two worlds: the "Russian-ality" of its design and the German manufacturing. And its price is half of a Junghans Max Bill ─the reference price I use for everything that exists─. Great! I'll keep this timepiece in mind. Thank you for this valuable information. Regards from Chile!

This original Poljot is a real poke in the eye for people who suggest that watches need to be thick in order to have pleasing proportions. The case proportions remind me of the thin-cased Oris dress watches of the period. Did I miss the origins of the Poljot International movement?

A friend of mine was looking for a russian vintage watch last year, I suggested him to write to Julian Kampmann ( this piece was not on the website ) and this old Poljot is what he came up with. I have seen it in the flesh, it's a beauty! as usual Julian was a real gentleman, it's great to be able to recommend a seller in all confidence too.

I second the russians being great musicians. When I was in Germany, there was this ever half-smiling guy, deep light blue eyes, always with leather long coats. He looked like out of a Bond movie I shit you not. Then he took a guitar at the Wohnheims bar and started playing Bossa Nova like a god. I was always both afraid and amazed by him lol

Great upload Tim. I’m glad you mentioned G. U. B. There’s a vintage Poljot piece I was thinking of that shares the same case as the vintage piece that sports the same over-sized and stylised arabics that I always associate with old G.U.B and new Glasshutté Original pieces. Beautiful watches. I love how the indices are engraved into the dial and the black and gold... Both stunning, basic and reliable watches for the working man. There's a quiet dignity to that. Re. the '2 stitch' straps; I'm not a fan, and as far as I'm concerned they are not particularly representative of vintage straps which were (I think) much more likely to have a single row of stitching across the entire strap, which is a much cleaner look for a cheap strap. Thanks Tim.

I have been wearing my Poljot Strela 3133 none stop every day for the past 3 or so years. It has never stopped, I always keep it wound up. It's about +/- 10-5 seconds a day. I got it from Julian as well. Shame about the dent I put into the watch late last year, the micro scratches aren't a problem though as they are jsut signs of wear.

The vintage Poljot de Luxe wears super comfortably. One of my favourite watch, superlight. You notice the bulkiness of the others watches afterwards. It was one of the thinnest Soviet movements, about 2,9 mm.

Thank you for your review! I am waiting for a Poljot/Luch De Luxe bought from ebay myself. One little remark though: the vintage version looks to be a redial? The markings are a little bit boat shaped instead of straight with a pointy end. Could this be the case or am I seeing this wrong?

I ordered 2 Poljot Diver watches (Vostok Amphibian "Frogman" Diver') off eBay. Within 6 months both did not work. The local repair guy wrote it off as Russian sh*t. I have to spend money to send it to someone and maybe it gets returned. So I sold all my Poljots and those I did not sell I threw away. I'm writing this off as a fraud. If you're going to buy a Poljot make sure you know if there's a warranty and who carries the postage fees. Also, after the warranty, should it last that long, identify which local repair guy can address that model/ caliber.

Just a question out of curiosity: What market was the 1960s Poljot targeted towards? Because it seems somewhat surprising to have a Soviet watch with an English inscription (23 jewels shockproof). Were they sold in Western countries? And if not, why would the Russians inscribe their watches in English?

For decades, the USSR was the second largest maker and exporter of wristwatches in the world, second only to the Swiss. Even NATO-alligned nations had them, except the U.S. for obvious reasons. Poljot was considered Soviet Russia's flagship marque, and as such it was a bit of a status symbol on both sides of the Iron Curtain. However, given how it was a watch from the USSR, it's pricetag still grossly undercut its Western competition.

The only authentic part is maybe movement if it contains 1m43 logo on it. Unfourtunately you are scammed by Ebay sellers.
