I have had the Alucab 3.1 for almost two years now and never regretted it! I just installed the drop down table and backrest system in it which I think is really unique and something I am enjoying so much. This table and backrest will work for the 3.0, 3.1 and 3-R tents so I would highly recommend anyone who has an Alucab to consider that upgrade! Thanks for the great video Casey!

I understand your trying new things. To show and educate not only yourself but your audience on many different mods. But all in all I have to say the ARS MetalCloak rack system is the best mod that both you and I myself have put on our Jeeps. There is is just so much versatility and customizability with the ARS. If you look at it I was able to save money on not having to purchase a separate system just to house a light bar. That’s just one amazing thing you can do with the ARS.
@Casey2508 ай бұрын
I agree. The ARS is awesome. Its a bold change to the looks of your rig though. I'll see how the Rhino Rack goes now. Your right, its a lot of trying so I can have first hand experience and provide perspective to others.

Installed the backbone system on my jku at home and it's really not a big deal if you are generally familiar with the use of a drill and stuff. The JL backbone does look nicer though. Curious to see your opinion about it.

Do you know if the rack is compatible with a two door jl?

Have to admit i prefer the hard top as it makes it looks less old beat JK look. Love the alucab, I want the canopy camper for my JT so bad! The snorkel is also on the to do list. Good to see the JL seeing some love as well.

Hello bro nice to meet you online, I don't know whether or not to say this, but I think you should have chosen Bundutop roof top tent instead of Alucab. that is more comfy, sturdy and ergonomic. The material is stronger and tough. Have you checked about it before purchasing this?

I'm happy you share your various gear reviews. I think for most of us $7k is not realistic. $7k, that's 14 Gazelles, that's 4 Amazon tents, that's a lifetime supply of beer 😅... but it still is only a "tent", and not a spacious one at that.

True. But it fits my needs really well and is super comfy.

Do they supply gaskets now with the backbone? Used to have to seal with butyl mastic (or silicon variant) which was so messy but absolutley did the trick. Would love to get a set of the gaskets if that is now the case.

I’m considering getting a 2024 4Runner. They tend to come with factory roof rails or a trd pro rack. What kind of rail or rack system do I need to put up a sparrow eye RTT? Do I tell the dealership to keep their rack and cut some cost off?

I'm still trying various sizes but right now it's a small Honeywell heater that is like 150w low and 300w on high. I've tried a larger 400w/800w but it cooks inside the tent and can't run as long.

Other than the size issue did you have any problems with the Alucab LT50? I would prefer something lighter than the Expedition 3.0.
@Casey2504 ай бұрын
Its a great tent if your shorter and are ok with sacrificing space for lightness and compactness.
@SamoyedMoms4 ай бұрын
I have the LT-50 on my Toyota Tundra and this spring did a 2-month coast-to-coast (DC to Oregon) trip with it. I'm 5'3" and it is great for me. Too small for two to be comfortable and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 5'7" or 5"8". I got the LT-50 instead of the larger Alu-Cab because the LT-50 is smaller and so it weighs half as much and closed is only 6" in height so less impact on gas mileage. Depends on what your use expectation is. I'm not hanging out in mine so don't need a backrest, desk or lights, etc etc. A headlamp is all the lighting I need in a tent. I did get rid of the foam mattress it comes with and replaced it with an ExPed Megamat Duo 10 which fits perfectly in width and depth and is a couple inches short at the foot, where no one's feet fit, anyway.

When are you taking the demoator on the hard trails?! Or is it a show room thing ?

How was the roof noise? Do you think it needs a front fearing?
@Casey250 Жыл бұрын
Swapping from soft top to hard top cut down a ton on wind noise. Removing the rack getting the tent lower was a smaller improvement. The front hoop is causing what's left of the noise but it's no where near where I started out with a soft top.

Casey you really need to do homework before you make statements. You’ve done it so many times that you give us info but can’t back it up. Example this video on weight on your jeep between your new selection to your old setup. We don’t want to hear...... Well it should be lighter? Get all the info that’s why we watch videos. So we know what we are doing. Thanks.
@Casey250 Жыл бұрын
I don't need to back up anything, I am here to give you the general idea of whats going on. We aren't running a race car and I am not collecting precise data. I replaced a 160lb rack and a soft top with that weights about 45lbs, with a hard top that weights 140lbs and a Rhino Rack which doesn't weight much. Thats the best I can do, take it or leave it, and hopefully it helps out - sometimes more then others.
@glenludwig9676 Жыл бұрын
And a Rhino rack that doesn’t weigh much. 5lbs or 30lbs. Neither is very much. I was giving you some constructive criticism not ripping you a new .......... But with the type of response you gave me obviously your too proud to take it. That will get you viewers. Anyone can give general ideas. We all are concerned about weight in and on our vehicles. Thanks
