@@genjitsu01 I almost forgot that akira yamaoka is a real human and I thought you meant the npc enemy who appears in games such as yakuza 3 I think, yakuza gaiden and maybe also kiwami 2? He has no dialogue, no text, no story purpose and fuck, hes not even canon. Hes just a guy you fight in the coliseum minigame every now and then and he wears a white suit. The reason I remember him so much is because he re-uses the classic kiryu style from games like yakuza 3. He even has a tiger drop, quickstep attacks and the damn smoke taunt. Its really crazy. When he appeared in gaiden, I was hoping that you could obtain him through the minigame somehow and play as akira yamaoka. akira is my favourite non-real yakuza character.

My little sister was killed in a drunk driving accident in 2021 and as one might imagine pretty much overnight my world as I knew it collapsed. This song unironically helped see me through the immediate part of grief for that first year. I would turn it on and just belt out alongside the chorus/the build up and found a sense of catharsis in giving in to the anger. I had always been a fan of DMC since I was a kid but felt a real kinship with Vergil for the first time (I always preferred Dante) solely because of this song. I felt some of the lyrics resonated with my own feelings - it definitely feels isolating to have such a horrific thing happen, like you're not quite "normal" anymore and can't go back to the way things were before (and I hated having people "pity" me). Two years later this song holds such a special place in my heart and it makes me happy that other people in this comment section have had similar things to say about it. I’ve since emerged from that low period in my life but the trek would have been a little bit more difficult if I didn’t have this song to lean on. It holds a lot of emotional significance for me and clearly so many others which is so cool. It’s just really incredible what you have put together here and it’s so awesome hearing how you were also a fan of the series too. Your work has made it easier to weather the unexpected ebbs and flows of life for thousands and no doubt this song will go on to serve as a raft in a storm for many, many more people. As a creative myself I can truly think of no higher honor and accomplishment in someone’s body of work than to be able to say that they were able to create that for so many other people. It is such a blessing. You truly have such a remarkable gift and I wish you all the success in the world. You rock man! EDIT: Thank you all for all the great wishes. The only way out of the storm is through it. Just wanted to give Casey his flowers for such a powerful song that means a lot to me (and so many others!). Hopefully the court case with the driver happening later this year will bring some more catharsis/closure.

@@Mario-tu7og cuz when u get older u realize that pain/loss is sadly apart of life, its inevitable that we'll all encounter it in some way. this song touches on that in a real way, yea its about a fictional character but the things he feels are relatable. we as a human race love seeing stories about ppl going through real life hardships and coming out the other side bc it shows it can be done. that despite literally going thru an unimaginable hell the human spirit perseveres nd its motivating to us to read. the fact that ppl in the comment section have used this as a tool to help them thru the bad times just shows the beautiful synergy of the human spirit and music. and it also shows the masterful depth of this song that it can reach people in this way and not just be popular bc of a silly internet meme. thats real shit right there

Idk if you are going to see this message but this video dropped a day after my birthday and it means more than the world to me. I can't describe how much this song has helped me as a person. I listen to it at least once a day. It has infinite meaning to me and I can't get enough. The final build up to the 3rd chorus usually has me getting emotional since to me it makes me want to persevere through my hardest struggles in life and overcome adversity. There was a time I had lost basically everything in life and this song was all I really had left, and I later found out it was all I needed. So I went on your streams and clipped this one instrumental part and made some videos, but they weren't for people one youtube to watch, its the only platform I really listen to music on. So I used some of the little music editing knowledge I know and made them sound as good as I could. Some of the videos actually go some views but nothing too crazy. Music has been a huge part of my life but Bury the Light is Never skipped when in comes on in my playists. On spotify last year i was in your 0.1% of listeners. So I seriously appreciate your work. I started listening to your art when it was first released. Since then I've listened to different remixes and reworkings. I can't describe your effort. The very essence of the rhythm, of the words, endows a person, not only with motivation, there you can understand sadness and despair. When a person falls to the bottom, but then climbs to the top. You can't consider it a tragedy. I'll just say one thing. Bury the light, it's the beginning for music. It's something the past can't compare to. It's got something that the past can't reproduce! I thank you for your work and also for the efforts of the vocalist! As they say, you are the best! That's because it's the only thing I can listen to without stopping every day. And feel in my gut what makes my soul scream!

This song is truly something else, last year i went through some rough stuff and i felt rock bottom. And one day i decided to revisit some games and one of them was dmc5. I replayed through it and it still holds up as an amazing game to this day. I just fell in love with Vergil's theme, the lyrics were relatable to my despair at the time and i just kept playing it everyday on my spotify. The way it conveys Vergil's tragic character about someone who tries to hide their weakness by always striving to be powerful and how he loses himself in this ambition. To the point he casts away his own brother and son to never have the feeling of losing those he cares for again. I used to be a person a lot more carefree like Dante but the experience and emotional damage i had last year made me more shallow and withdrawn like Vergil. I felt as if im a total emotional wreck, but when i looked into the meaning of the lyrics it made me feel a sort of resonance with Vergil's character and how i have learnt to make myself a stronger person through these lyrics. Overall, thank you Casey, you truly have inspired me to embrace and improve the person i am inside and to never let anything change that no matter the challenges thrown at me Oh and, my bad for any sort of broken english, im just sorta spewing my thoughts out

Man, it's extremely impressive to sit and analyze the song all the way down to its core structure and components. I was sitting here thinking "You know, that first chorus is oddly simple in the way it's written but the layering was a clever way to add a ton of depth" and then we get further along in the video. I started realizing that, much like Vergil's power and his subsequent pursuit of it, the song becomes more and more complicated with more and more punch and weight behind each verse. The song, much like Vergil, grows more and more powerful. To say the song is a masterwork of how to write a character theme is an understatement if you ask me. I watched your other video where you talk about the story with Capcom and working with Victor Borba in depth and how the limitations created innovation and Victor's additions of his own really shaped the song into what it is. Absolutely phenomenal work. To this very day, Bury The Light remains one of my all time favorite songs. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Also, love the finish on that 6 string of yours. I have a Schecter Omen 6 Extreme with a similar finish, but in blood red. That green on yours is super nice, man.

I literally cannot emphasize how much this song changed my life and put me on the right track. I had just dropped out of uni, ended a 7-year relationship, was severly overweight and was contemplating ending my life. One day I was just scrolling through youtube and I came across THAT Vergil combo vid and it instantly got me into the game. I kept listening to the song even when I wasn't playing the game and eventually the message of the song just seeped into my will to live. I know this sounds so corny and cliche but this song singlehandedly got me to start living a healthier lifestyle by going to the gym (I use this song whenever the weights feel heavier than normal), it got me to dig deep within myself and find a purpose for my existence and it got me to stop being suicidal. Nowadays whenever I feel like things aren't going my way, I just isolate myself and listen to this song a couple of times to remind myself of how much I've endured and how far I've come ever since I discovered this song during the lowest point of my life. The solo itself literally makes me feel like I can overcome anything life throws at me. Thank you so much for pouring your heart and soul into this masterpiece.

Next, I remember telling everyone that Bury the Light was my personal best song or 2020, and I still stand by that. Seeing how the intricacies come together in this video is truly wondrous. Also, we know why Capcom wanted to save the energy of Bury the Light for the choruses; they wanted to save it for S-SSS rank gameplay. You only get to hear Vergil at his most badass if you play well. (Small tongue-in-cheek joke for ya).

It's fascinating how all of us in the audience find such incredible relief in this song. It's tempting to dismiss it as "I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING I AM RECLAIMER OF MY NAME" - "Oh wow lol EdGy Wh0000AAA" (and even if that was all, it would still be a masterpiece that I love.) But I see a lot of people commenting about how it saved them and I completely understand. For all the edginess, this song is incredibly hopeful. The last chorus especially, from the first booming power chords to the fading final notes of the solo, feels like finding your footing in the midst of a vicious storm. Not even leaving the storm but standing firm against it. It feels like you've suffered terrible injuries and the hits are still coming but you're not giving up - you'll never give up. It feels like hope - not a hope that God or luck or love will save you but that you can save yourself.

Its amazing to see all the parts that go to a song and this is just the guitar part of this masterpiece! You are an artist of music in its purest form.

I find it really interesting that I already knew that this song was a Masterpiece... But seeing how this was done on camera made this even more Fantastical. Im super happy youve made your Stamp on the DMC Franchise Casey, this song is one of, if not the best theme for Vergil period.

I have always loved music. One reason why I fell in love with DMC was the music. When I first heard Devil Trigger it woke up something inside of me and couldn't figure out what it was. When I first heard Bury the Light, that thing started to shake the cage, punch, roar, just go absolutely bat shit. Recent events in my life really made me realize that I always wanted to learn music. I tried a few times in my life but it was just a bad learning enviroments and other external factors. With recent events in my life, I stopped ignoring that monster and currently trying as best as I can to learn and create. It's hard as a fresh out of college adult, but I keep listening to your song to remind myself why I want this. I'm a little embarrassed writing this..... it feels like venting on a random video, but I guess I'm trying to say is thank you for this song. I really hope one day I can be on your level and make something as amazing as this song. Wish me luck... I'll bring the pizza when I catch up.
