Incredible Snowy Plane Spotting at Salzburg Airport, SZG | 03-02-18

Hi all, thought this was worth saving for a Friday evening! So when we arrived in Salzburg, shortly after leaving the terminal we were met with blizzard like conditions!!! With heavy snow showers all around, which stayed with us for a good 2 hours or so! The downside of this was the poor visibility, which meant at times it was near enough impossible to get runway movements, so I'm afraid a good amount of this video is taxi movements etc, but there is still a fair few landings on 15 and take offs 33. We managed to survive the elements for a good 3 and a half hours or so before giving into the cold and heading for the indoor bar and restaurant where I filmed a few other movements (Which will be in a short video for next week)
It was certainly an interesting good few hours anyway, at times nothing was landing or departing, partly due to the weather, but mainly because all stands were occupied! This meant a few flights had to divert, including a Eurowings, SAS and a few Jet2's, which went to Munich and Linz. I captured a fair few shots of the runway clearings as well, with about 12 odd snow trucks ploughing the runway at once! Which I personally thought was very interesting to see. As you can expect there was also widespread delays on departures, as aircraft had to be deiced and the taxiways and runways had to be free of snow and ice. Some aircraft had departed over 2 hours late!
Movement wise, a good amount of flights for the busiest day of the week at Salzburg, including TUI 737's and 757, Jet2 737's and 757, Ryanair 737's, Easyjet A319's and A320, British Airways A319, BRA RJ100's, Norwegian 737's, SAS 737, Ural Airlines A321, El Al 737-900 and more!
I do admit the best of traffic arrived after we left, but my hands and feet became too cold to continue so we had to pursue warmth, I caught some of the decent movements from the bar including the Air Baltic 737-300 and S7 A321

Wow Casey firstly congratulations for braving those blizzard like conditions, secondly this has to be your best video(so far). I love snow and boy did it snow! The combination of snow, aircraft, de-icing and the snow clearence operations made this a very enjoyable video could you imagine this being a uk airport would be closed for hours!

Runway 15 has ILS so is used for landings in the low vis, whereas 33 doesn't so. Also there is steep terrain situated on the approach for 33 so take offs use 33 instead of 15, this is easily done when there is hardly any wind
