Matty Poppins You can see in almost every Mavic video the video isn't sharp. The GoPro is a much better camera in terms of IQ, sharpness and DR, and the Hero 5 also has inbuilt IS so it wouldn't require the gimbal to be so aggressive during high winds (less props in view). When GoPro releases the Hero6 you can upgrade just the camera, I doubt that will be possible with the Mavic as DJI usually upgrade the entire unit and not just the camera. Not to mention if anything happens and you crash, the GoPro is more likely to have the footage and take less damage, and since it's a separate unit you can always just pop it into another Karma. Oh did I mention about the Gimbal they are providing? The Mavic is great, but I prefer the Karma.

Agreed, but we also needs to remember that he also had done no post-processing at all on the footage. With stabilization, sharpening or smart-sharpening you can get quite impressive results. The colors, though, were gorgeous and that's actually really impressive without color-grading.

The Zenmuse Z3 on the Inspire 1 can be taken off to be used with the DJI Osmo handle- If you own an inspire already,then you just need to buy the handle. Not bundled like the gopro,but same concept.

Well the picture isn't sharp, actually it's very blury. Don't know if it's the camera or it happened in conversion, but the picture isn't as good as others. And you can still see propellers. The advantage is portability I guess.

Looks like Casey's footage is less sharp than other tests I've seen of the Mavic, so it probably has something to do with his particular edit. Yes, it's worse than the Phantom 4, but not fully as blurry as is made out here. Look at DigitalRev's review for example - not a huge difference.

No question, the image quality of the Mavic Pro looks extremely soft compared to Casey's Canon EOS 70D when compressed, spliced to another video source, then compressed to upload to KZbin...But I'm patient to really see if there was an issue with the camera itself. I mean, my God, Casey took it out of the box and went out for a maiden flight! No question the camera may have had the plastic cover left on, this particular DJI drone Casey has may be an early sample in which the lens isn't focused as well as it should, there may be a setting tweak that was needed in software (Sharpness turned on or off?), or maybe the camera sensor on the Mavic Pro IS poor, with slow shutter speed and Bitrate, and truly can't differentiate detail. Of course, final output file type plays a role in how a particular video appears when having to change from one file type to another to make each video from different sources compatible with other video footage...then deal with KZbin compression and no telling what you might get! So, the jury needs to not pass judgement just yet...Yes, we WANT to pass judgement on this, but give it a few months AFTER the retail product is out on market before deciding on the video quality... Of course, just in this ONE vid Casey produced...the Drones small size, the stable flight characteristics in a pretty heavy wind, and the size of the controller...the judgement just on THOSE merits alone has been finalized already...I WANT ONE NOW!!

Keep in mind that footage wasn't played with. Nothing is tothe standard that casey normally produces because he does edit and play with the footage. The footage he got to day was raw and clean. It's pretty darn impressive for it to be raw - I do think he may have left a bit of plastic or something that casey missed caused it to not be as clear, but this is clearly caseys new favourite and we will be seeing a lot more of this product

Yeah, that's definitely a full-scale aircraft. This is why the laws exist... The main rotor of that helicopter would probably laugh at the mavic during a rotor strike, but the tail rotor would not. The statistical likelihood of two objects randomly colliding in open 3D space is not great, but not impossible. Stay safe and fly smart so the sky remains open for everyone.

No, the dynamic range and color is very nice. You can increase picture sharpness easily by drone setting or by post processing. Too much sharpness is not good.

I think the Karma is good if you are beginner and need the whole package. but if you already have the hero 4 black and a gimbal and a phantom, its just best to stick with DJI. If you crash your Karma, you could lose everything in one shot and I'm not about that.

What a bummer right? But Karma has more features than just a drone. Detachable camera + detachable gimbal which you can connect to a GoPro handle. Remember it's GoPro, it caters the extreme. DJI is specifically made just for droning.
