I did go to jail in Mexico. When I was 21 & graduated from college. I went to Mexico with a couple of singing friends. We we're singing in Chapultipec Park, Mexico City and a couple of people asked if we would come to a meeting of their labor union and sing. So we did. Next morning we were picked up by immigration. We were questioned all day by these folks in Spanish, which I don't speak. We were taken to the city jail overnight and then the next morning we were deported to Texas. I was lucky I was not mistreated. I had to give the jailor a couple of my slips for his girlfriend but he did make sure that I was ok. Be very aware of what you do. The US Consulate said there was nothing they could do to help us. You don't want to go to jail in a foreign country..
