Two years ago I founds myself on a film shoot in Bikini Atoll (where the US tested many atomic bombs). I listened to this album continually throughout the whole project. We were filming in bunkers and the wrecks of sunken warships. It's the most magical and surreal place I've ever been and probably ever will go. Blue Vacation and all the other tracks on the album somehow capture it exactly. I'll listen to it for the rest of my life, and get transported to that paradise at the dawn of the nuclear age every time.

@@crazycrazyjake This is what it got turned into in the end. The tone of the VR/film doesn't really fit with my experience out there - I wasn't involved in the edit, or it would have been CVJ all the way! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqiYopqpmLupp6c kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYWkgpmdZbJqfpI

It's insane to me that this album came out in 1998. It's way ahead of other ambient albums that are 10+ years younger than this. Blue Vacation 2 in particular gives me feels beyond compare.

Wow. Donal Dineen used to play him years ago on his Small Hours/Here Comes The Night shows on Today FM in Ireland. Great to revisit this stuff!

You don't need to repeat this. There is not any ceremony anymore. Everyone is gone. And you say this out loud to yourself. You were alone at the time. And the time now is always.

Sean Kemp No idea. Like you, the tone, tempo and tamber seem familiar. Why this is the case is a mystery to myself as well.

My friend Scott Beschta (Magic Arrows) was in Europe late-Spring/ early-Summer '98 and recorded a busker at an airport or street cafe (I cannot recall the precise location) on a micro-cassette player. Thank you for listening! First-time vinyl edition coming soon!
