I think the A159WA-1 is a superior watch to the A158W,that gets more attention.the’59 is one of the few vintage Casio’s still made in Japan and the only vintage Casio that has a deployment clasp,which is a step up to the regular flip up and slide clasp common to all the other vintage offerings.The printing on the face of the A159 and colour is of a higher quality than the A158 the WR is a brighter stronger red than the 58,which you can barely see.I prefer the 4 link bracelet,it looks neater and of a. higher quality,overall l think the A159WA is a made in Japan higher quality watch and it’s a shame it constantly is over looked by reviewers in favour of the A158WA.Perhaps it’s just not as available tham the other.Thanks for your review,it was thorough and well researched and presented !,

Thank you for watching. I honestly wasn't expecting to get a made in Japan model when I ordered this one, back then it was more about the choice of strap link pattern. What a lucky choice to me, and even better with a deployment clasp.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but apart from some cosmetical differences and slightly different bracelet design, they are exactly the same watch. If you want to pay extra for the made in Japan text on the case back go ahead.

I've never seen that bracelet style before, with the deployment clasp on a Casio. I like that look, and it elevates the watch to some degree also. Wish I could find that bracelet...

Sir backlight button is hard in new one I purchased . If I press it with my nail then it is properly on is it ok?

It's normally easy to push buttons, and all have similar actions. If one is a lot harder, maybe there's some issue with the spring. I'd suggest to contact the seller :)

Press and hold for about 3-5 seconds, an original A159W should show the word Casio. (even some counterfeits will also show that)

They should put the chrome plating on every resine case that has to look metallic. The models that are painted with some metallic paint look so fake. But this chrome plating looks amazing.

That would depend on your preference. I personally prefer the deployant clasp, which is easier to loosen when washing hands :)

I have one of those too. Found it at work about 10 years ago. I have no idea what year it's from, but it does say 593 on the back. The battery last from when I found it as is, up until two months ago. I just changed it today. Fun watch, though I've never worn it outside the house. I'm not a big digital or quartz guy, even though this style Casios has been trendy again in recent years.

I recently bought a Casio A159w, but I don't know if it's original, apparently it is, but I'm not sure. But what I noticed is that when it gets close to a magnet the bracelet sticks a little, does yours do that?

Yes, the metal bracelet alloy sticks to magnets a little. About the water resistance, I wouldn't recommend wearing this watch while showering, although in most cases it's not going to be a problem (they usually have a better WR than the specification).

I don't think so. It is only rated as WR, or about 30M, meaning only designed to withstand splashes and drizzle :)

how do you think of this A159W bracelet clip compares to A159WA? I got a A168WG and as I have small wrist the double folding of the bracelet is a bit weird

I only have the one with the folding clasp. Honestly I forgot exactly how many, but certain that it was different amount of links on each side, maybe 3 from the top and 5 from the bottom, so the clasp fits better. And yes, the buckle type of A168 will be more suitable for wider range of wrist sizes :)
