Haven't found anything similar so far. But maybe you want to check out the W217H, it has quite a large digit (though not as big as the AE1500) but with a slimmer profile :)

It depends on your preference. The negative display looks cooler, but the positive has better legibility/readability :)

The negative display is junk. You need a lot of ambient light around you to see it well and the watch has to be facing you square on. I owned both and I got rid of the negative display and kept the positive display. The negative display looks great when you're checking it out online, but you'll hate it once it's on your wrist. Go with the positive display model.

check at 4:45 the watch facing almost straight the camera & can not see the digits...how ever i may get one with white/cream version negative display looks really cool, here in Greece summer time days are very bright outdoors so should be ok & white color may helps not getting a lot of heat

Yes, it's using resin glass (like a plexiglass or acrylic), so it's prone to scratches. But on the other side, it doesn't easily breaks.

It is a very beautiful watch & it is a pity that it is a low cost model. I would definitely pay x3 or x4 its price for a version with better materials & sapphire glass screen.

You might want to check their GD-010. Large display, large digits, world time, and mineral glass.

This watch doesn't have option for mute button operation, unlike AE1200 and the likes.

The strap material is polyurethane rubber, same as most casio resin strap. If you experienced trouble with this kind of material in the past, then this model will be similar.

Protrek (PRG) and Outgear (SGW) models are similar in shape, and have compass and thermometer, some even have alti/baro. I'd suggest to check for SGW100 series for compass and thermometer. Have a great day :)
