All very fine pianos - but just adding a bit of support for the Casio CDP-S100 here! Not sure what mode that was in (maybe 'Bright'?) but I can honestly say the Grand Piano on the Casio sounds NOTHING like this demo! It's far better than shown here. The best advice really would be to go to a piano shop and try all three. That's what I did and I came away with the Casio. I think the Yamaha and Roland had a *slightly* better sound, but the action on the P45 was nowhere near as nice as the Casio. The keys seemed very slow to return, and felt very cheap. I thought the Roland's action was as good as the Casio, but was significantly more expensive. For me, it was as much about the feel as it was the sound, and at that price point, the Casio was way ahead. Of course, this is all very subjective, it really is a personal choice, but for a budget-friendly starter piano, the Casio for me was the clear winner. Online reviews are an excellent starting point, but you really have to see/hear/feel each piano personally to make the right decision for you. Happy shopping everyone!

I own both pianos: Roland FP-10 and Casio CDP-S100. The sound of a (compact, stage and upright) digital piano really is a matter of taste, and also depends on the settings of the individual piano and used speakers and/or headphones. Yamaha is like an upright piano, Roland is more warm and full and Casio sounds like a grand piano with an open ceiling. Also consider the number of polyphonies (Yamaha and Casio have 64, Roland has 96 polyphones). All models sound better with a good headphone or profetional external speakerss than the built-in speakers. With the further development of the virtual pianos up to the physically modeled pianos, the sound engine within the compact digital pianos is not really interesting and does not represent the first criterion for me. You can simply connect your stage piano to a tablet or computer and launsch a physical modeled virtual piano engine, and you get the best sound out there, with infinite possibilities for tuning right through to the length of the strings. The most important thing in a piano is the KEYBOARD. On all three keyboards of the named models, the keyboard of Casio is by far the best with well-scaled dynamics and pleasing surface texture (Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II). In summary, a sound engine can be substituted for a better one, but you can not replace a bad keyboard.

True but bear in mind that the function of escapement is to rapidly repeat the note - the click in the middle of the analogue keypress is a side effect of this mechanism. The digital equivalent of escapement is a third sensor to pick up key retake before complete return, e.g. on the Kawai MP11.

Piano 2 (Roland FP10) is by far the best keyboard of the 3. The Yamaha comes very close in sound quality but the Roland has many more features than the yamaha that aren’t talked about in this video. The Casio isn’t a terrible option to save money, but if you’re planning on performing with this keyboard, it sounds like literal fart cream. I would Buy the Roland FP10 if money were not much of a matter, but now it sells for closer to $7-800 and the yamaha is still around $500. The yamaha I feel is the smarter buy on a budget, but the $200 is definitely worth a world of difference. Sorry Casio, you have some good keyboards but not this one.

If the Casio's sustain had been longer, maybe it would sound better.

It should be seen what sound was used in each register. It seems to me that it is not a fair comparison.

My guesses and preference 1.Roland. (a bit digital like) 2. Yahama(favorite.. smooth, with more depth) 3. Casio (my least favorite... too bright, too digital like) God... I like the second the best the 1 and 3 are both a bit too digital like. Finally, Roland is not disappointing now!!! And I always guess Casio correctly because they just sound very digital and not natural smooth enough.

Exact same opinion and circumstances as PandaGuitar. Casio is on sale at Musician's Friend. But I much prefer the sound of the Roland. Thanks for the demo shoot out. Stopped me from making a bad purchase decision!

Очень понравилась в звучание ямаха, глубокий звук, объемное звучание. Касио сухо звучит. Благодарю за познание и воспроизведение. .

Может у P45 звук губже, но у F10 от более детализированней на средних тонах!..

Roland the best by far... But i've tried the casio keybed and find it very nice. I was considering buying it as a midi controller but i'm not sure if that is possible (i hope to connect it to a Nord Electro). Also haven't tried the FP-10 keybed yet...

Yes, I was in a store and the Roland was the best for me, but I want to buy the Casio because it's red! My musician friend told me that Casio is like a transistor to a stereo.

I liked all three. For myself I am more interested in the key action because I plan to use whichever one I buy as a virtual piano controller. I tried out the P 45 the other day and the key action seemed weird because I felt like I had to push through something to get the keys to go all the way down.
@cmfrtblynmb024 жыл бұрын
Yeah. What is not included in this video is the key action. Yamaha is the worst among 3 in terms of key action. For a beginner level pianist, this is what matters most IMHO.

Is it just me, or: 1. Fine. 2. Is there a thick sock over the microphone? 3. Yuk. Are there variables here accentuating this? Differences in recording? Modes the pianos were in?
@phoenixfire82265 жыл бұрын
Tough call between the p45 and the fp10, the casio isn't even a contender imo. P45 is brighter and more vibrant and the fp10 does it for me on the lower registers.

Casio CDP s100 sounds way too plasticky, Yamaha p45 sounds a bit too digital, and the Roland fp10 sounds like a real grand piano.
@someguyfromarcticfreezer68544 жыл бұрын
Because player used bright piano instead of grand piano mode or mellow piano mode AND NO SUSTAIN PADDLE USED. Unfair presentation Casio isn't it? It is like cheating.

@@someguyfromarcticfreezer6854 Sustain pedal was used on the Casio, but the sustain on the Casio just is crap.

I think Roland clearly wins as it sounded the best to my ears. While the Casio one feels unnatural, Yamaha doesn't sound too good either, the sound doesn't seem to harmonize that well. So it would be hard to judge b/w Yamaha and Casio. Out of the three, my pick would definitely be Roland.
@graceongiphonesg5 жыл бұрын
Yes, roland very rich warm mellow tone and does not sound annoying for higher chords or notes.
I had a casio electrical piano, the sustain damper is not full sustained, it feel like half pedaling. From here both yamaha P45 and roland fp10 sounds equally good. It depends on which sound of piano you are use to listen.
