That's amazing! These keyboards have a lot of features and extras, which are rarely available on others keyboard in this price range. The volume pedal can be a great way to add expression to your performances. It's going to be interesting to see what Casio have up their sleeve this month - there have been two teaser trailers so far. All the best - Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for this video. I purchased an expression pedal from Amazon U.K. called “M-Audio”. It cost £12.99 and it operated the Casio CT-X3000 perfectly for expression just as your video explained. Many thanks.

Hello. I wonder if I am missing something? It seems that the sustain pedal on the 3000 does not function like a sustain pedal on a piano or yamaha keyboard. On those, when you press a key while the pedal is depressed, the note sounds for a while an then dies. On the 3000, the note sounds indefinitely. Is there some way to correct this? Thanks. Love your videos.

It's not something I've noticed. Are you using the Casio pedal? Perhaps also check the settings in the EDIT menu and make sure that it is set to sustain. Also, avoid pressing the pedal when turning on the keyboard - something I've noticed with a PXS-1000 Privia is that it stops functioning properly if I'm pressing the pedal. There must be a reason yours isn't behaving as you expect - you should be getting it to act like a sustain pedal on a piano. Let me know if it's still giving you grief! All the best.

Hello. Thanks for replying. I have just reread the manual (pg.31)which states that tones such as organ will continue to sound as long as the pedal is depressed. We play many classical pieces using organ and/or string tones and when attempting to play these with the Casio,we end up with a cacophony. Any suggestions? Meanwhile my Yamaha psr sustains properly but the sustain doesn't work with a split (lower) tone. Cheers@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic

Hi. I have a CT-X5000. Is there any possibility that I can use my footswitch to switch between fill/var? Thank you for all the videos. Happy Thoughts. AnjaAnemone

I had a similar question in the comments two weeks ago. I've copied my reply below: The variations can't be directly controlled by a footswitch, but if you save your RHYTHM set up in REGISTRATION memory, then a pedal can cycle through the variations. For instance, save Variation 1 in REG1, Variation 2 in REG2, etc. Each press of the footswitch will move it along to the next REGISTRATION - unfortunately, you can't set the order of the REGISTRATION sequence. In the FUNCTION menu, scroll until you get to "Reg Mem" and then press ENTER. Press the right arrow to get to "Reg Seq" and then set it to 2 for Pedal 1 and 3 for Pedal 2 - typical Casio confusion! A setting of 1 is Off. It works, but you'll still need to press RHYTHM buttons if you want intros, fills, and endings. I hope that helps. All the best.

The other thing to add is that when you are using a pedal to change REGISTRATION memory, it loses its prime function (e.g. Sustain) and SEQ appears in the display.

Hi there! Thanks for the informative video. I wanted to ask, my keyboard was dropped, and my pedal 1 plug in broke. How would i set and save the settings so that the pedal 2 could be used as a sustain pedal? Thanks!
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Жыл бұрын
Short press FUNCTION and then navigate to the CONTROLLER page. Press ENTER twice to get into the pedal settings pages. "Pd2 Effect" will allow you change the effect of the pedal to sustain. Also change the "Pd2 type" setting to "Foot Sw". I hope that helps and solves the problem. All the best.

@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic This is super helpful, thank you! What then would one do in order to save this setting, so that it was on every time the keyboard is turned on
@tatealfrobinson Жыл бұрын
is it possible to have this setting saved without having to go through that process you described every time?
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Жыл бұрын
@@tatealfrobinson I don't think so. It appears to reset to another setting, not sustain. But if you save the patch in a registration area then it is saved without resetting. Not ideal, and something of an oversight/glitch/issue. Anyway, hope that helps a little bit.

@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Good to know, thank you. In that case, how would i save the sustain patch in the registration area/recall it when i need it?

1) Can the range be set on volume? For example if I don't want the strings to go all the way down to zero. 2) Can a pedal be set to control modulation? Is there anywhere on 3000 to use modulation controls?
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gene, To answer your questions - I'm afraid it's "no" and "no". However, the Casio will receive some control data, and I've just made short videos demonstrating controlling the cut-off filter with an external MIDI controller. Check them out. A quick Google search shows there are MIDI expression pedals available, so you could do it that way, but they are expensive. And you would need a USB MIDI Host to get the MIDI data into the Casio without a PC - again, these can be expensive. Thanks for your questions. I hope that helps.

That's great! We can't get 9000 here in UK but I believe it's similar to the 5000. The 5000 and 3000 are similar as well so you should be able to learn the features of the 9000 with most of my videos. If you have a specific question then I'll try to help. All the best. 👍

What does the 5th option, Expression, do?
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic3 жыл бұрын
The expression pedal setting allows you to connect a variable type of pedal, like the Yamaha one in the video, and then you can control volume. You can set this independently for each layer. So for example, you could have a piano tone and then control the volume of a second layer with the expression pedal. I hope that helps.

Thanks for your positive feedback. I agree about more functions on the expression pedal would have been useful, but then it's a budget keyboard. However, I did discover that you can control the tempo with an expression pedal - good for slowing down at the end of a song - on the CT-S1000V. kzbin.infobi7wLhrFHig All the best with your keyboard.
