Cool video. That makes 3 of us on KZbin now who took the time to work these wk based keyboards out. Gear facts is another guy who has done the same. These machines are amazing and unique and i can't see how sp few people bothered to give them a shot.

I just bought a CTK-900 last night at Goodwill for $11.60, had a piece of plastic under one of the keys, and some paint on some of the keys and buttons. I removed the plastic and cleaned off the paint, now looks and works as good as new. After owning many Yamaha Keyboards, Digital Pianos and 2 Electone Organs, I am very impressed with this keyboard!

Great demonstration - Thank you. I love mine. It's so powerful and the sounds are inspirational. It's the only synth that I have that accurately recreates Melloron sounds - at 8.15 you used tone '074 Old Tape Organ' which is one. The other is '170 Old Strings Ensemble' which is very accurate and when layered with Choirs or Brass with the touch sensitivity turned off and sticking to the Melloron's keyboard range, it's very accurate indeed.

Dude these machines are really easy to use. There's no secret to them other than being open minded enough to try something out of the ordinary. There's basically 2 rows of settings, the first covers filters, envelope and lfo etc while the second covers dsp. There's just enough to get creative but not enough to get lost in. If you can use a basic guitar multi fx pedal you will find these casios a breeze to use. Buy one and spend a few days with it. No one knows how good they are and there's no snobbish class status attached to them meaning they are worth next to nothing used.

point to note to anyone with these using the el cheapo midi to usb cables, alot won't work with sending the sys-ex to the keyboard. Try and get a cheap roland cable as they handle the sysex perfectly for dumping sample info to it. My old wk3000 worked perfect with windows 7-8 and 10 with casio software.

i find very exciting to get the most of one of this old secret wonderful hidden unexpected machines... so i'm expecting to recieve the WK-3300 i've just bought for very cheap !!! there is not a video like yours exploring the custom sound capabilities like you do and this is very similar to the way i'd like to use it, mine has a very similar if not the same sound engine and capabilities, i'm not sure if there is a real difference about it but the main purpose of this message is asking you about the sample loop information in the custom made wavetables or tones you can create with the computer tool: Do you know if there is a compatible way to put the information of the in-out loop points in order to set a particular region of the sample to ping-pong loop like it's used to be ? thank you and congratulations for the love for this machines who are so underrated (also by Casio themselves who didn't really put that features on the front)

I'm excited to recieve the WK-3300 i've just bought for 50€, i really want to explore the sample based side of the engine, i don't think i'll even use a built in sound... i wonder about the sample loop points and i wonder about the number of DSP channels is possible to have at once ( i suspect you can't use more than 1 DSP effect inserted in some track as well as the global reverb and chorus, am i right ? and i also have another doubt about that frustrating lack of mod wheel in the wk-3300... do you know if it would be possible to directly connect some class compliant midi controller and using it as a mod wheel ? well this last question i think hasnt much sense... sorry about this 2 long messages but i hope some other guys might be wondering this stuff as well...
@Najvrtson Жыл бұрын
There is only possibility how to loop the custom sample - whole from start to end, so you need truncate your sample in any external editor. The sample translation to the instrument is not very accurate, so you can get some clips anyway. Regarding effects: There is system reverb with several halls and delays, system chorus with several chorus and flanger/phaser presets, system equaliser which is user programmable. Finally, there is one insert effect which includes tons of various algorithms. Some of them are combinations of up to three effects (i.e. distortion, wah and delay). Hope, this helps you! Enjoy your Casio!
@funkiEst Жыл бұрын
@@Najvrtson Thanks for your reply, it will help me to not go crazy trying to find the way for the casio to apply the loop points saved in the wav file ... it's really frustrating to know that isn't possible, sorry if i insist but: have you really made sure the wav editor you used is properly saving this loop points information so the casio sample converter can read it ? i'm asking you but i'm pretty sure you indeed did; the frustrating thing is: of course the casio is capable of pingpong loop a certain sample region but only for it's own tones... THanks a lot !

@Najvrtson3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amir, I'm not sure. The CTK-691 has less samples and effect algoritms, so I afraid it is not 100% compatible with CTK-900. But I believe, you can make similar sounds on it.

Do you know if the WK3800 has the same synth and DSP capabilities? It seems that both are the most complete Casio keyboards of that era, aside of the MZ2000 of course.
@Najvrtson4 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the WK-3800 has at least the same soud and effect possibilities like CTK-900 plus more keys plus pitch and modulation wheels. I do agree, they seem to be most advanced home keyboards from Casio of that era.
