Found this really helpful. Thanks. I could not press the back on with my thumbs like he does. I read other comments about using a pill bottle but did not have one but did have a vodka bottle and this worked well. I put the watch face down on a folded tea towel. I placed the bottle with lid on the watch back and pushed down. It worked first time. I guess this could work with any glass bottle.

Hi, Instead of opening the wristband I think it's easier to remove one of the spring bars in the foldover clasp.

Lay the watch face down on a towel over a table, Use a medicine prescription pill bottle, place over the back then hit it flush with a rubber mallet.

Never, EVER have I seen anyone remove a bracelet link to change a battery. The bracelet is held onto the clasp by a simple spring bar. This is the accepted way of taking the bracelet out of the way, you just take out the spring bar. Still, when someone uses a knife like you do for a precision bit of watch maintenance, you know you're onto a loser LOL 🤣

I didn't know that at the time. I found it out later. There is no excuse for doing anything else, all that is needed is a simple toothpick.

Thank you. That is a good question. In my opinion the effect is minor. The watch is rated water resistant 0m. DIY repairs may worsen it a little.

Maybe put it into a vise. Did you try that? Or maybe put the lid in the fridge to make the metal shrink in the cold.
