Having just bought a WK-7600, I highly recommend this tutorial to anyone seeking to come to grips with this extremely comprehensive instrument. I spent considerable time choosing this keyboard because I required the most flexible range of voices and rhythms (but at a budget price) for composition , so I recognized it would be a challenge. However, when I first began studying the user manual, I found it extremely confusing and soon realized that it was not the best solution to learning all the complexities of such a keyboard. In just a few hours, these tutorials (I have just completed no. 7) have possibly saved me weeks of frustration. Congratulations and thanks for producing such a comprehensive series of tutorials; please keep them coming.

Thank you very much for this first tutorial. I'd like to add something about the navegator. I noticed as well, when I push any of the right tone buttons, the highlight bracket will change to the tone section. If I push any of the left rhytm button, the highlight bracket will change automatically to the rhytm section. Other one I found interesting to change the sounds and rhytms is the mixer button, then I can use the organ bars to change the tones. Greetings from Tijuana!

Thank you for these tutorials. From watching this first part, I can already tell this will be very helpful for me. I just ordered, what I am guessing is one of the last of these workstations. I wrote over 200 songs and over 500 new age musical compositions with the Casio CT-470. In the late 90's I upgraded to the Casio WK-1630. This turned out to be a waste of money as this model had it's fair share of downfalls, the main one being it's functionality. Difficult for me to understand and was defective anyway. Biggest problem being the key response when attempting to change chords in accompaniment mode. Recording became impossible. It has 88 keys, so it's great for lessons, but record mode is no longer usable. I am in hopes that Casio got these types of bugs out of the WK-7600. The Ct-470 has a defective adaptor input, so the only way I can use it now is with batteries. The good news is it records great, even as old and banged up as it is from years and years of both home use and public use and ALL without any protection. I truly abused those keyboards and they still work today. Your videos are cool and I look forward to learning from your tutorials. I am also planning to take lessons this time around, so I don't have to waste so much time programming my music. Subscribing to your channel. Please check out mine and if you are properly entertained, do the same. You know the drill.lol And thanks again. Minister Wolfie out.

You are welcome. Listening to "The America Dream", this great fun music. The music isn't dark, just the lyrics :) Great song, music, vocals, composition all great! ....though I am hungry for a cheeseburger now. ...The Casio7600 will allow you record your own styles from a blank program, very powerful pattern sequencer. By adding the registration/banks on the fly you can have as many as 16 different verses and fills and 8 intros and endings. The key bed has excellent control/response for your skilled playing.

Please let us know what keybed you got on your Casio. My keybed is like the old 7500 Casio's, but the keybed of later models of the 7600 seem to be much better. Let us know if you got a quieter one.

Thank you for a great tutorial. I love the organ sounds and am really enjoying my new wk-7600. May I ask, in SPLIT MODE, how do you change your UPPER tone?? While keeping your lower tone?
@funnzie
@funnzie 4 жыл бұрын
If you have a split the display will only show you the split voice. You need to turn off the split and then you will see the upper voice. IF you have a layer AND a split you will need to turn off the layer and split to see the original first layer tone.
@prithvidhyani52

Great video, but how does one have layered tones in the bottom half and a single tone on the other? It seems that by default the layer feature only applies to the upper half of the keyboard?
@funnzie
@funnzie 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, the default is the only option. There isn't a way to layer the left split at all. By creating your own pattern sequences (styles) you will not need to layer the left split, the pattern can have 8 layers of tones and drums.

Hi I have now owned this keyboard for 4 years and love it. I am not an experienced musician and just simply play it---dont understand the technicalities. i have been unable to find a satisfactory set up to play guitars and music such as The Shadows. Can you suggest a suitable set up for guitars using just layers and splits and the function hutton please? In addition should you use layers when playing the drawbar organs? Thanks for any advice you can give
@funnzie
@funnzie 5 жыл бұрын
Check out the arpeggios for playing guitar, a guitar is difficult to reproduce with a keyboard without great skill because the guitar is played so much different from the keyboard. Yes, I would layer any solo sound for better quality, this way you can add something like effects to one tone and not the other getting all sorts of tonal changes through the time the note is suspended. Never thought of layering with a drawbar, I guess it would be possible, but would not sound like an organ anymore.

If you have internet access problems, then I could produce DVD's for sale if the Casio Tutorials get popular on KZbin (unlikely). Just curious and testing the water....what would you pay for a series of lessons on DVD formatted to play on a computer?
@sglen310
@sglen310 8 жыл бұрын
Well the reason for asking about dvd's is, one doesn't have to with the speed of the Internet, or buffering times etc. And at times they seem to disappear from the site. I was 12 min into your first teaching and I missed something , so I swiped the time bar to rewind the video and lost the video due to buffering. Now I'm not certain as to what it costs to produce a dvd teaching, but I've seen some as low as 20 dollars to as high as 70. Mark Almond at piano for life has very good lessons on learning to play. I figure that it would be a good place to start.
@funnzie
@funnzie 8 жыл бұрын
+Stephen Glenn Okay, I'll try it. The video's are already on my computer in MP4 format. So if you have a computer you could play and view these files on a computer by double clicking and opening in Windows Media Player or on the MAC..., but not on a DVD player device (stand alone box) for television. Interested for $25.00?

Now I haven't looked at any reviews comparing the CTX series to the WK 7600 but according to casio they are only 61 keys. In your 5 part review of the WK 7600 you said you would never ever get a 61 key keyboard and I fully agree with you on that. Maybe on a synth but not for piano. Can you explain why you would now get a 61 key keyboard? And did you ever find a workaround for the problem that really turned you off this keyboard? ... the issue with the rhythm fillin?
@funnzie
@funnzie 4 жыл бұрын
Between the CTK5000 and the WK7600 the 7600 is the only choice. When I made the videos there was a choice, same instruments the CTK and the WK except for number of keys. Today, the CTK5000 has been discontinued so now the choice is between the WK7600 and the CTX5000 and 3000. The only reason to choose the WK over the new CTX series is if you want the drawbar organ and 76 keys. The reason I said that the 61 key CTK5000 was a bad choice was because of the octave button, you really cannot move the key pitch (play lower or higher pitches of the keyboard) in a smooth uninterrupted manner. The CTX series fixed the problem and now you can shift the keyboard to higher or lower pitches on the fly without interruption of play. The CTX3000 is one fantastic keyboard for $300. You would choose the CTX5000 only if you needed more powerful speakers, a microphone input, more professional features, and you DO NOT plan on running on batteries.

Use the same editing process as in the tutorial and use Casio's preset [ROCK PIANO] instead of the grand piano used in the tutorial. There is one bright piano layered over the softer piano, simply adjusting the volume of the two may give you the results you desire. How to add auto-modulation on a long key press (on the right side of the keyboard, in a split setup) so the tone modulates automatically at the end of a long key press? So that I don't have to take my left hand off the keys and press the modulation button.
@funnzie

Hold down the octave button until the display shows the function. This button has two operations; on is for layers, and the other with a longer button push is for Octave transposing. IF you don't want the whole octave, then use the mixer to transpose in fine tune or coarse tune. Corse tune in semi-tones, and fine tune is a 120 degrees of two semi-tones.

What about the WK7500 . . . can you say what does and doesn't work on the 7500??
@funnzie
@funnzie 6 жыл бұрын
The 7500 seems to be all about a keybed that is not good. A new 7600 should be the answer and a better feeling synth action keybed. Even though the keys may be a bit noisy on a 7500, the key response is very good and very controllable for performance and feeling. So when recording obviously you won't hear the keybed noise...but for playing in the living room with friends the 7500 keybed may be too noisy for some. Look for a late model 7600 and test the keybed or the same instrument you intend on purchasing before buying.

The keys sound annoyingly clacky clicking loud no matter what selection you play. Glad these are on youtube to help me avoid these little kids toys

Please see my video to "hear" how this keyboard sounds: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6fNdXuijNeMp6c The tutorials were focused on teaching not the sound of the instrument. The microphone makes these keys sound louder than they are...AND....there were two keybeds used on this 7600, I have the old one, the new 7600's use a new much improved and quieter keybed. I don't like the Casio sounds compared to higher priced keyboards such as the Yamaha PSRSX600 for $1000. You may wish to try the Casio CTX5000 for better sounds and the same features of the 7600...except....it will have only 61 keys and no physical drawbars for organ. See my Casio playlist for many more videos.

A W K Casio 7600 for 400 dollars key board record audio from a mic and separate for your guitar! Seriously, it is still the best available in this price range. Thank you for all the 7 videos and hours and hours of work.

Casio should be paying this guy for all the work he has done, the instruction book might as well be in Klingon!!

I now have this wonderful entry level keyboard and this review tutorial was unfair, bull and just crazy. You still cannot get everything you get with this board for over $1,000.00. You should delete all your negative comments.

I liked this keyboard enough to video and entire series of tutorials on how to use it and get the most out of it. A ten part video series to help others. The negative comments is called truth, and Casio must have heard me because the replacement to this keyboard has corrected the negatives and provided new keyboardists first time buyers with a truly high grade keyboard in the CTX3000 and the CTX5000. So you can thank me for being the reviewer who fired a passion in Casio to produce a successor to the WK7600 that is absolutely amazing. 50 years as a musician and 30 years as a recording engineer means I have been through the entire history of keyboards, purchased them, learned them, listened to all the sounds keyboards have produced for the last 50 years. Any negative comments are justified when comparing the 7600 to the last 50 years of other keyboards. The sounds of the WK and CTK because of the price are allowed to be of less quality than a $1000 keyboard, this was certainly factored in when listening to the sound, but the sounds were some 30 years behind the times, that is not allowed. Compare this keyboard to its closest competitor the Korg MicroArranger and you will see how Korg used sounds from their previous keyboards from the year 2000 which are acceptable in a 2017 keyboard for the price. Now Casio has stepped up and produced a keyboard that I would buy today in the CTX3000.
