I really like this watch. Bought one about 3 weeks ago now. It was so easy to adjust and set up. Its light and comfortable to wear and guess what it tells the time accurately. All the information day, time, year, month and date are there at a glance and easy to read.. The only complaint is the alarm isn't very loud. Its excellent value for money. Good video.

This watch is brilliant. I paid about £14 for it about 4 years ago and it has stayed on my wrist despite owning other more expensive watches. Clear display, a lot of info at a glance and very easy to use. My only minor criticism is the slightly flimsy strap which eventually snapped, however it can be easily replaced. Excellent. Thumbs up from me.

@@andreatilli6227 - I think the W-800 has a bigger, better laid out display than the G Shock 5600. I've had about 5 of these. The strap lasts about 2 years but the watch goes on for years. I take the broken strap off and just carry the watch part in my pocket as a backup. It's cheap so you don't have to worry too much about damaging it. I have more expensive analogue watches but the W-800 is my daily wear.

Another way to tell acrylic from glass is to gently tap it on your tooth. That probably sounds weird, but try it and you'll see what I mean. It's a very reliable method. Also, this module actually does have a countdown timer, but it is disabled by default. You can enable it by opening a soldered jumper on the circuit board. There are also jumpers to enable five alarms and to disable the dual time function.

Jajajaja I bought those exact same watches for xmas, The G for me, the w800 for my little sister. Funny things is I ended up liking the w800h as much or more than the G-SHock so I kept both for myself :) My only complain with both of them is that both looked much slimmer in the pictures. Pretty good watch, amazing quality for the price (so far)

According to the instructions, chemicals like sunscreen, for example, can affect the strap durability, and washing/cleaning the strap helps it from breaking down. Also keep watch from getting sprayed with Deet (bug spray), it eats the plastic, according to a reviewer.

Hi, thanks for replying. numbers on the back are w-800h, module 3240 made in china. its exactly like the one in the video. I've had lots of casio watch's, I love them, as I said before, I use mine for work, I noticed the display was abit faded & sometimes the time would reset so thought just needs a battery. took it out draw & it was on so thought id set it & wear it & that's when I noticed it. watch is working perfect still.

The strap keeper is usually the first thing to break on a casio resin strap. I always replace it with a rubber band (looped once around the strap). Sometimes I use 2 rubber bands for a more secure fit.

I just got one. It is small but when I'm fishing or Hiking it does go under the shirt sleeve very nice. It feels good on the wrist. Casio makes a very fine cheap watch.

Bought it from Amazon for 12 bucks a month ago and it is well worth it. The only problem was canceling the annoying alarm and hourly chime. The directions sheet was hard to read and I had to google for simpler instructions. Comfortable and I sleep with it as I wake up at night and need to know the time. Great functional watch, but won't wear it in Social settings as it will not impress anyone. The enclosed sheet states it has a 10 year long battery. As I would have to unscrew four screws to replace the battery I will have to dump it when it conks out. Before this, I would buy a Chinese knock-off digital watch with time, date and alarm figures that were twice the size of this. Same 12 bucks and it would last for three years before conking out. As a 70 year old, these large figures were much easier to read than the Casio.

Weird that they didn't use electroluminescence? ...unless LED draws less power? Very surprised that the buckle is plastic as it doesn't feel very strong. The strap is not as robust as the one on my other Casio solar-powered watch which is thicker and appears to be made of a different material that is more robust. Original Casio replacement straps are always expensive... but typically the Casio strap lasts longer than a third party strap? Had a bit of trouble getting it into the 12-hour mode as I couldn't get the little P to the left of the time to pop up. Had to wait till after 12 noon to check if it was set correctly. It keeps popping into the 24-hour mode when you press the button accidentally. This is annoying. There should be a way of selecting the 12-hour mode more permanently? Love the 10-year battery life! I have the more expensive solar-powered Casio and unless it gets enough sun it runs out of battery. It is much simpler to buy a watch with 10-year battery life? The 800H battery cost is minor and it's not hard to find one either. Much harder to find a battery and very expensive to buy batteries for a solar-powered Casio. The lens is definitely not quartz glass but rather some kind of plastic lens which doesn't inspire you with confidence: Probably more prone to scratching? Found the video very informative. You've highlighted things most of us never consider... yet they're quite relevant. :-)

Bought casio w-800hg-9a, with gold display, i like it, but want to say what alarm is quiet for my opinion, also snooze mode, but it depends on time when i go to bed. If i go to sleep at 3 am, and woke up at 9.00 i cant wake up without loud alarm :)

*_This watch comes with Countdown Timer Mode DISABLED!! I just watched a video wherein the user can perform a 'hack' to enable the factory disabled CT. This involves opening up the watch and removing a 'jumper' that's been soldered onto the motherboard or whatever its called. Seen the effects of the hack/operation and it worked fine. Also read the comments and other users said that they assayed the same hack and it was effective for them as well. Some however didn't have the same results._* *_I wonder why Casio would obscure such a coveted and significant utility feature on one of it's time pieces?_*

+Michael Manley I can't say that I'm familiar with it, but I would expect that the negative display will be hard to read in indoor or low-light conditions, even more so because the digits are gold instead of white. I don't believe there's a way using LCD to make negative displays really work well for readability unless HUGE digits are used. ePaper or eInk is probably the only type of display that makes negative work.

I bought this watch with negative display type. Looked very attractive when I looked on amazon. When the watch arrived, I realized that that light reflects from the glass making it hard to see the digits on black display in many angles. Not sure if I will return the watch where I lose about $8 shipping or use it with the inconvenience of reading. :(

Glass fogs up, so im done with casio glass screen watches , ive gone back to wearing this model , its 9 years old now and has taken alot of abuse beach, work, hot showers and baths , has never fogged up or failed , much better watch than many gshocks, i would go as far as saying that this watch is more water proof than a 200m DW-5600, i have the gold version and just tried the backlight and after 9 years has better illumination than your new one

1. about the strap. it is usual problem on all casio plastic watches. i change about 5 different watches ( different codes) and when I wanted to change strap it was very difficult to find even generic straps that fit . 2. also a big problem is after some time the buttons was stacked and did not work so when I want to change the time I had to unscrew the screws
