Ribbons without connectors are the bane of every vintage consumer keyboard collector. Makes repair so much more labor intensive. Casio was definitely a repeat offender- likely done as a cost-saving measure. Those early WK series boards were huge!

At least it had a manageable pitch (distance between wires) and was surface soldered instead of through holes.

You have great technician skills! Sometime I try myself to repair faulty keyboards I get somewhere, but where soldering techniques are required I raise my hands.

At the time when these keyboards were new everyone who was serious about music wanted something that was brand new and keyboards from the 80s and early 90s like Casiotone or Yamaha Porta Sound keyboards were either relegated to the loft, given away or shoved at the back of a wardrobe. But now everyone seems to want a vintage Casiotone keyboard more than something like this. It's just funny how 20 years ago many people didn't value really old vintage keyboards compared to now. I was never keen on that fake plastic silver finish from the early 2000s, black looks better than silver. For a Casio keyboard it's sounds are not bad, it has fairly decent sounding pianos, e pianos and organs.

My favourite paradox is that back in the 1980s we did our best to make our analog tape machines sound as good as possible. Today sound designers try their best to make their digital equipment sound 'analog' and imperfect. It's a weird world we live in!

Hi, i just picked up a used wk3000, with the screen “glitching” or switching between options when using the directional buttons and number pad. Can I ask what I should use to clean the contacts on them? Thank you. It was supposed to be a gift for my friends daughter, so im bummed i got one with screen issues, all for $40, and a 2 hour drive.

@organfairy Hi!! Mister...!! I own a keyboard, its CASIO WK3800 very long ago!! But I have an issue with my keyboard... I feeded it with a 12 volt 20Amp-hour and I accidentally blew up my own keyboard... It doesn't run anymore 😢 on the main input feed for AC... Now I feed it with same battery (12v20Amp-hour) on the battery input (that's below -you know-, but this time I'm using a 15 ohm ceramic resistor (a huge one) to protect it... My request sir is... Can you teach me how to repair the main AC feed so my keyboard can run normal again? Hoping you reply my message dear sir!! Respectfully yours MIster M.
