First song on the first CD I ever bought. I remember being surprised by how much more like New Order the album (this is probably the most guitary song on it) sounded than I expected, given the balance of the combination of Barney and Johnny, maybe Johnny loved synths and couldn't do it in the Smiths. This rendition is probably more how I expected it to be at the time! Johnny is brilliant here.

Great vid and great memories... that's me in the leather jacket directly in front of Johnny's mic stand, with my little blonde wife to my left. Johnny was very gracious backstage before the show... a true gent. Your vid has amazing clarity... well done.

[Verse 1] I've always thought of you as my brick wall Built like an angel, six feet tall Six feet tall And when you go away, I start to weep You're too expensive girl to keep Isn't it sweet? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Chorus] I don't know where to begin, living in sin How can we talk? Look where you've been I've counted the nights, living in sin How can we talk? Look where we've been ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Verse 2] Take my independent point of view I've loosened my wallet, thanks to you Don't do me any favors Hark, the herald angels sting Please repair my broken wing Why won't you look at me? I live and breathe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Chorus] I don't know where to begin, living in sin How can we talk? Look where you've been I've counted the nights of living in sin How can we talk? Look where we've been ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't know where to begin, living in sin How can we talk? Look where you've been I've counted the nights of living in sin How can we talk? Johnny Marr is playing to a US audience, so I think he's forgotten that this song was originally released in the US on Warner Bros Records and not Factory Outlet which was their label for the UK at the time.
@jonah2902 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure he’s that bothered. He’s probably forgotten as it has been 30 years. Not only that Factory Records was a local indi label based in his home town of Manchester. It has cult status and he wouldn’t mention any other label no matter where in the world he were playing.
