Do You Know Casper's last name?According to the 1995 feature film Casper, his family name is McFadden. and do you know about the controversy Given that Casper is depicted as a ghostly little boy,in regards to the question of whether or not he is, in fact, a dead child. Early Casper cartoons seemed to suggest this, they portrayed him "living" beside a gravestone. Specifically, the short There's Good Boos To-Night featured Ferdie, a fox befriended by Casper coming back from the dead as a ghost.

charizard: All of the principle Harey characters that are human--or formerly human--follow the Casper model: Casper himself, Richie Rich, Richie's girl Gloria, Little Lotta (a female glutton), Little Audrey (Little Lulu replacement), Dot, Casper's cousin Spooky, Casper's "ghoul-friend" Wendy The Good Little Witchy, Wendy's best friends Witch Hazel (not to be confused with the other ones from Disney & Warner Bros.) and Dumbella, et al.

It's a Casper cartoon. All grownups are afraid of him. It puts them in a sillier light, which amuses the kids, especially if Mom or Dad had ever laughed at their fears.

@gobo760 I don't really get Casper or what the writers were going for. There is the reoccurring character Billy who Casper is always making "friends" with, but really I don't think Billy is a very good friend to Casper and Casper seems way to desperate to make friends, which is part of Casper's problem and 1950s Casper the writers made Casper kind of a pansy in a way, I mean he's worse then the Care Bears for heavens sake. I like Casper I like what he's about, but I don't always appreciate how the writers make him out to be this desperate, dopey, lonely dope who will just walk up to anyone without thinking or doing any kind of vetting and ask them "Will you be my friend?" Like I swear there's certain episodes where Billy just totally takes complete and utter advantage of Casper and just completely abuses him and I don't know because Casper is so passe now, what the message is? Is it supposed to just be funny or is the message supposed to be, watch out who you make friends with because it's not always what it seems or what you want it to be. I don't think kids in the 1950s ran around asking each other point blank if they wanted to be friends, I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that. The writing for Casper is hit and miss there are some very heart wrenching episodes, but there are other episodes that the writing is lousy on in my opinion. According to the 1995 film Casper, Casper was a 12 year old boy who stayed out to late during the winter time sled riding and he caught pneumonia and died.

It's like they just took the "Cute character" cartoon template and were too lazy to draw on clothes or hair. Hence, Casper was born! You can see that the little Indian who calls him "Paleface" (cute) is drawn from the same template.

@Miracle490d13 жыл бұрын
@wladdaimpala88 But all cartoons make a template of characters having the same look in their environment. For instance, all the Simpsons share the same face too. Just going from Barts flat top crown to Lisa's Stagasaurus hair is the biggest difference. That's just so they fit together as looking normal in the same world. All humans in real life share a template too and a Simpson would look abnormal next to a casper.
@Miracle490d13 жыл бұрын
@pacertmh They actually showed casper die and come back? that seems a little morbid for kids. As a kid I never thought about anyone dieing to think about how he became a ghost. The whole idea and context was supposed to be that normal ghosts purposely scare to be mean, but casper wanted to be nice. Normal people don't scare to be mean, so you're not really supposed to think of them as dead people.
@Miracle490d13 жыл бұрын
@wladdaimpala88 I think Little Audrey may have the same face too. In some casper cartoons I even saw long eye lashes where he looked like he had a girl's face, kind of querish. LOL
@M22OHIO5 жыл бұрын
He does look a little querish and feminine and what happened was around the middle 1950s studios were cutting budgets on animation and they used a lot of the same templates and backgrounds over and over again to save money.

5:30 SPOILER: Those terrible synth-music dubbed Casper cartoons shown in the 1990's, featured voice artists with no feel or conviction for the lines being said. The woman who did Casper's voice in the re-dub of this cartoon apparently had no idea that the closing line was meant to be a pun on the old phrase "And, how!"
