Re knee bend I have heard it said that if you would to jump up high you don’t bend your knees to the angle Ali does you can try it by seeing how far you bend your knees when you want to jump as high as you can. This should be the amount you bend your knees. I like Ruud’s serve as so compact and flowing and good point about lower toss. Thanks.

Good video mate!

I noticed that Emma Raducanu’s forehand is more compact, can you post an analysis on what she changed or what she does better? I saw the video on her instagram, the first image is a picture with her and the king, but once you scroll to the right the tennis video pops up.

I am trying to do an open face racket drop like Ruud and so many atp players do, very poweful if the shoulder can handle it. If I can get the elbow up and forward wirh the shoulder tilt I believe I can do it, too soon to tell.

Great analysis! I have another request for a player's serve that you can analyze: Sam Groth. He has the fastest serve in tennis history, so there must be a few reasons why. I would love to see an analysis of his serve. Thank you!
@tucker3601 Жыл бұрын
Few things that contribute to his serve being so fast: 1. He’s a big guy; 6’4” and was stocky. 2. He had a low ball toss, like Casper, which tends to lead to a faster serve due to a short burst of uninterrupted momentum buildup being released. 3. He had good body rotation, so when he unleashed he also generated extra momentum from the torque of his body.

I believe FAA’s toss is probably higher which will allow more time for the bigger knee bend?

Sorry didn’t read previous comments already answered thank you

Curious if there's a conflicting relationship between the low toss and the depth of knee bend/explosion on the serve. Not sure Kyrgios or Leon Harris, both of whom have very low serve tosses, do much explosion/jumping into the serve. Certainly not as much as Felix, who has a much higher toss.

Peter, good sleuthing. I was waiting for this comment. I’ll make that video tomorrow…whether a low toss doesn’t allow for knee bend like FAA. I’ll use JJ wolf as an example. Thanks!!!
@petershort936 Жыл бұрын
@@2MinuteTennis I knew you were going to reference Wolf. Would love to hear your thoughts on the mechanics of the knee bend as well. I have found that sometimes watching these slow-mo videos exaggerates (artificially) the knee bend, leading rec players to incorporate an explosive squat into the serve, which can be too deep and difficult to fire up. For me the knee bend is quick and explosive, not necessarily super deep. Like a quick dip and up.
@2MinuteTennis Жыл бұрын
@@petershort936 the knees should begin going down around the time the ball leaves the hand. And you need to begin exploding up just before/as you hit the birthday hat. That doesn’t leave a lot of time to squat. You are correct. It’s a quick dip down and then explode up. Thanks Peter.

@@2MinuteTennis looking forward to that video as I'd had the same thought as PS . Guess the critical thing is to strike at the top of the toss and not let the ball drop too far.

Dude two different serve you are comparing. Felix serve was power serve . Ruud just aimed to serve to push his opponent off the court. That s why his shoulder move wasn’t like Felix

Not a great serve for a top 15
@2MinuteTennis Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I’ll have to make a full video on how he could improve his serve. He needs to change about 4 things to increase the speed. Thanks for watching!!

@2MinuteTennis exactly. I think it is one of his biggest liability right now not only is it not a weapon, neither with the first or second serve, it is also VERY PREDICTABLE.
