I worked with Brenda many many times. She was simply the most musical singer I have ever known. Whatever was thrown at her musically- often by me during songs, which I would never have dared to do with others!! - she was always right on it. A real jazz singer, one who didn't just sing songs associated with jazz but did the jazz too.

I've just learned of Brenda's death - what a massive loss. I used to watch her as much as I could when I lived in Stratford - and would wax lyrical in my reviews of her performances in the local paper. I'm about to move back to the Midlands and naturally tried to find where Brenda might be performing. I'm so sad to learn this news. Always loved it when she appeared with you, Paul.

@@duncansmith1890 Late reply! But yes, we had a ball together. I always knew she would feed off the musical missiles I would aim at her which I did because I knew it would never faze her but feed her tremendous talent. Over many years we had a couple of fall-outs (never over music) but you don't get to be so talented without paying a price or two along the way and you certainly don't write someone off because of it. I always knew she'd get over whatever it was..!
