I know the whistle at 6:10 is a Nathan 3 chime long bell whistle from the C&O but didn't the Western Maryland also use whistles like that on their 2-8-0's, challengers & Potomac's?
@drpeerless15 жыл бұрын
Yep! You are correct. My father has the whistle off of the WM J 1403, same configuration as the whistle in this video, with the flange connection.

@@drpeerless1 I wish i owned that whistle, cause if i ever had the funds, i'd restore LS&i # 35 as WM #835 and mount it on the locomotive.

@@ishirotanaka yeah unfortunately they are not common whistles, although they have come up for sale from time to time.

@@drpeerless1 If i ever come across one on Discoverlivesteam.com or Ebay, as much as i'd love to buy it. It would be way too expensive for me to buy and plus i don't have anything to run it on; not even an air compressor that can generate 165psi.

Ahhh to hear the whistle of live steam rolling into echo through the timber is to reminisce of big iron on its travel through mountianous terrain shorting the distance between its destination.

Does cass still do these whistle blow events, I’m pretty sure they don’t, if that’s the case, does anyone know why they stopped doing them?
@drpeerless1 Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100 percent sure but it had something to do with the change in management, fuel cost for the locomotive, and a crew for the engine as well.
