Thank you for the video. Watching the video made me feel really good about what I just paid for my Conion TC-999 considering the condition that it's in compared to the one that you are selling. I give you a big congratulations if you got $1700 for your TC-999.

I only have to ask you this to both cassette decks work in the machine you got and what price did you pay for yours?

@@Cassette2Go Both cassette decks on my TC-999 work but deck A has a slightly lower output level than deck B. Both decks are fully functional though and all the belts were replaced by the previous owner, who bought it from the original owner. (I am now its third owner.) All the lights and the alarm work. Everything is fully functional. The only visible scratches on mine are on the bottoms of the two feet underneath the case. My TC-999 came with the original Conion box, styrofoam inserts, instruction manual, store display paperwork, and AC power cord. I paid $1600.00, which included shipping. It was not exactly what I'd call "cheap" (not by any stretch of the imagination) but considering the condition of it, I was happy to pay that much. I have been looking for a Conion TC-999 for several years now and mine was by far the best condition one that I had ever seen because it was well cared for and cherished by its two previous owners. I will continue that tradition during my ownership. Here's a little tip: don't keep blowing off the scratches as "no big deal" because they don't effect the sound quality. You did that a few times in the video. To some potential buyers, cosmetic blemishes are a big deal and can have a direct effect on how much they are willing to pay for any boombox. If all that some people were concerned about was just sound quality in a boombox, they might not even bother with considering any 30+ year old boombox in the first place. (Let's be honest, the sound quality of most newer boomboxes completely blows away the sound quality of the old classics.) For some collectors, they like the look of the older boomboxes like the Conion TC-999 and C-100F and anything that prevents a potential boombox purchase from looking pristine will automatically cause them to shop elsewhere. Simply put, to some collectors what you just dismiss as "no big deal" is a big huge deal. It can be a deal breaker and what keeps their money in their pocket. Kudos for being honest and showing the cosmetic blemishes though. All too often, boombox sellers hide that crucial information from potential buyers. Anyway, that's just my perspective as a boombox collector. I'm sure that there is a buyer out there for any boombox, you just have to find him or her.

@@Locoboy5150 Definitely agree! To the big collectors, condition plays as big of a factor as functionality. Just look at vinyl record collectors, or car collectors. If I hadn't had some punk-ass "friend" steal my Technisonic Conion TC-999 from me, it would still be in my possession, and in a pristine condition bordering on mint condition. Anyhow, mad props to Casette2Go for being so thorough in highlighting all of the devices' blemishes, for there are far too many scammers out there trying to rip people off, and many who don't even seem themselves as scammers, or even as being dishonest, because they sell the item they are claiming to sell, but they tend to hide the item's true condition, playing it up than what it is, so Kudos to Casette2Go for his honesty! There is always a buyer for anything out there . . . and the true value of any item is exactly what somebody is willing to pay for it. As for me, I have had hopes of replacing my Technisonic Conion TC-999 for some time now, but on hearing the amount you paid for your unit, I'm afraid I will have to let that dream go. Man, that punk-ass is fortunate I did not bump into him after I had learned from someone, who was more of a "friend", that he was the thief responsible for stealing my boombox, along with a few other items, including a kick ass walkman, um . . . sorry Sony, don't sue me! I meant personal tape player/AM FM radio. It was an AIWA model HS-R9, if I can recall correctly, for that was around 35 years ago, and I had only owned it for about one month. I can recall it had a 5 band graphic equalizer, Dolby B NR, AM FM radio tuner, dual headphone jacks, Metal/Chrome standard tape selector, auto continuous reverse recording, built-in mic, rechargeable batteries, and back in the mid to late '80s, it was the most expensive Walkman (piss off, Sony) they had for sale, and I want to say it retailed for $259, but it may have only been $159, I simply can not recall. Regardless, that particular model which I just looked up online, refurbished units are selling for $800+, while junk ones for spare parts are going for around $200. Yeah, that punk is real lucky I didn't come across his path! I'm fairly certain that karma has reached him by now, and I would be willing to wager a significant sum of money that he is currently either in jail or dead! It just would have felt good to administer some karma upon his worthless ass, and I am nowhere near a violent person. I replaced my TC-999 with another boombox, so I'm off to go see what its value today might be. I doubt it will be near that of the TC-999, for the Technisonic seemed to have a slightly better build and quality. I still have it, a HELIX, but I can't seem to find the exact one online, so I need to go see what its model number is.

I have a TC-999 new in box. Only tested if it works. No scratches whatsoever. Any ideas of the value?

@@bezemsteelnl Simply put, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. You saw what I paid for my TC-999 in my comment above. It had its original box but no paperwork. It also has a few dings and scratches on it. I would think that yours would fetch more but with times being tough for many people now, money-wise, that is not definite.

Hey man I live in Los Angeles, 2 years ago i went back home to Arizona and found a Conion TC-999 in my childhood home storage shed. It's a stereo that I clearly remember my family having in the 80s and 90s but then just stored away. I brought it back to LA and cleaned it up but had no luck getting it to work. I'd like to get it restored but was wondering if you had any advice on seeking someone to restore it in LA?

Upper Deck takes two belts and lower deck takes four belts I think in the lower deck is a royal pain in the ass to put new belts in if it takes hard to find belt for one of them

Rather peculiar that you should mention that. I acquired a Technisonic Conion TC-999 in Arizona at a swap meet while staying with my grandparents for the summer. I took it back home with me to Iowa, and about five years later, some punk-ass "friend" of mine stole it from me. Some time later, I would eventually discover from someone who was more of a "friend", that that punk was responsible for the theft of my boombox, along with a few other items. He is extremely fortunate that I did not bump into him after I had gained that knowledge of his guilt!!! I would still have it in my possession today, in relatively pristine condition had it not been stolen from me! I doubt they still have anything like those boomboxes from the '80s at today's swap meets!

You apparently really don't know what you are doing if you are recording a vertical video! Thank god, it's your live Facebook stream, and not your KZbin video. Please do not record videos in that format, for they are incredibly discomforting to watch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpbGmamel5WAm9E 2:30 Tape deck #2 on that first boombox is playing the cassette too fast! Tape Deck #2 on the second boombox (Technisonic Conion TC-999) seemed to play the same Genesis song, "Man on the Corner" fast as well. Is that Genesis cassette an original cassette or was it dubbed, maybe a high speed dub? If it is an "original" cassette, did you purchase from some shady place, say a bodega, or a swap meet? Is the insert made from really thin paper when compared to other cassettes which were purchased from legitimate stores? Some of the other songs sound as if they might be playing slightly fast, but it is difficult to tell when you can only hear about one, or one and a half, seconds of a song at a time. Perhaps I am just tripping. Maybe it's not the cassettes, nor the boomboxes, and it has something to do with the original source video, or KZbin's conversion/compression when the video was uploaded? If I knew what the guy's voice sounds like normally, then maybe I could tell if it was the whole video. Regardless, the songs sounded a little fast to me. Regardless, thanks for recording, and sharing the video for I used to own the Technisonic Conion TC-999, and I would still have it in my possession if it wasn't for some punk-ass "friend" who stole it from me! He's real lucky I never ran into him again after I had discovered he was the thief. I'm sure karma took care of him to the point that I would be willing to make a significant wager that as of right now, he is either in jail, or dead. 4:36 As he walks back into his house to grab some item, it is difficult not to notice his immaculately manicured lawn. "𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑦𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑑𝑜 𝑑𝑟𝑢𝑔𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑚𝑜𝑤 𝑎 𝑙𝑎𝑤𝑛?" kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX7bq554md-HhLc 4:50 "𝑂𝑘𝑎𝑦. 𝑆𝑜, ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒'𝑠 . . . 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠. 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒? 𝑊𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤. 𝑌𝑜𝑢'𝑟𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑚𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑤." Crack me up!!! If he maintains that style of commentary throughout the video, I will have no choice but to subscribe to his channel!!! 5:03 Initiates weather report, pans towards sky in an attempt to show the lighting conditions so the viewers can determine the quality of his video in order to assess just how well the scratches can be seen in the video, but then he immediately cuts his whole effort off with a "Whatever"! I start cracking up even more! He is quite thorough with that magnifying glass in pointing out all of the wears and tears, the dings and the dents! 8:44 However, he failed to highlight the crack on the left side of the cassette storage tray. 10:05 "𝐼'𝑚 𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑡'𝑠 ℎ𝑜𝑡 𝑜𝑢𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒. '𝐻𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑡?', 𝑑𝑖𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑠𝑘? 𝐿𝑒𝑡'𝑠 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑎 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘." About 92° or 93° F, fairly significant, especially considering on August 23rd, 2019 in my neck of the woods, or I should specify, the Sonoran desert, we only reached a high of 97° F that day. Currently, May 14th, 2023, and the expected high today is only 94° F. Which is fairly standard here, but considering this gentleman has a thick, luscious yard of grass, 90°+ may not be unheard of, but is likely to be unseasonal. You can retrobright old yellowed plastic to clean it and make it look brand new again, and incredibly close to being brand new. You can purchase a product from the store called Retro-Brite, and use that, or there are a couple different methods for a DIY solution, but they all involve hydrogen peroxide, and a source of UV light or heat energy, but you will need to thoroughly clean the plastic to the best of your ability with warm soapy (dish soap) water, and then rinse, and completely dry the plastic prior to retrobrighting, but the method does work wonders! 13:20 I can only imagine what his neighbors may be thinking at this moment! Those sensor alarms are much louder than the video portrays, and turning the volume knob down has no effect upon the loudness. They can be tripped by sunlight real easy though. 14:18 I can only hazard a guess that his intention was to achieve the highest degree of stereophonic sound! I did enjoy your magnifying experience! Thanks for sharing!!!

Yes a tape deck was playing too fast. This was later corrected. The c100 f was sold for 1800. The TC 999 was sold for 1350. I no longer have either.
