Speaking for myself, I haven’t missed Cassidy in battle rap, the same way I didn’t miss him from hip hop. Cass is good at rhyming words but he’s never said anything that moved me or made me rewind to listen again. He’s nice with the words but I don’t feel like he was ever essential to the culture. He’s just a good emcee who believes in himself. I rock with confidence. Everybody should feel about themselves the way he does. If my life was on the line and I needed someone to drop a 16 on the spot, I’m calling Cass because I know he has bars for days. If I need someone to write something powerful, insightful, with substance, it ain’t gonna be him.
