I think the concept of generations as we've known it for decades is completely obsolete. It doesn't reflect the reality of the marketplace. Why would someone who logs onto their Xbox One everyday to play Fortnite and Warzone spend $600 to do the exact same thing? If an Xbox One user is active and spending money on MTX, why should they not be considered the same as someone who does it on an S or X? And if it MSFT loses money on the new console sold to that person, why would they want that sale? I'm more convinced than ever that the way we conceptualize the video game industry is dated and irrelevant in a way that many of us are yet to yet - myself included.

Yeah all fair points mate and it circles back to kind of what I meant when I said "Where's the incentive?" I just think the entire gaming bubble becomes blurred at that point. But if the games aren't unique and the services aren't unique, then what's the incentive to be in the ecosystem? Game Pass has been the focus of course but does it hold enough weight by itself? None of us know but it's going to be fun to watch and see what happens!

@SeasonedGaming totally agree. They have difficult questions to answer and quite an uphill battle regarding how to make their platform attractive. I just think the conventional metrics like console sales and game sales in the context of GamePass have far less utility in the modern era. Personally - GamePass, quick resume and Xbox Play Anywhere are extremely attractive, but I agree they probably aren't enough to entice a broad audience to choose their platform over competitors. My comment was more directed at Luke who has a tendency to sound like he's reporting from the trenches of 2013 🤣

Ains: Cancel what? i haven't been doing anything. 🤣 Ains you will drive yourself insane if you try to think about xbox's messaging, marketing, and future plans for too long. Every time I hear anything, almost, I try to block it out and just pretend I didn't hear. The only thing I'm listening for is when the message is saying "we are done supporting your digital libraries." that's teh message i will wake up and pay attention to. evertthing else is just noise to me.

You've followed us for a while now so you likely know how much I've spoken and written about their strategy. Fundamentally I don't think it's changed but with the overall industry changing so rapidly, it just becomes a lot more blurry. As always, it will be interesting to watch unfold. Grab the popcorn.

This show was off the rails more than usual lol Also as someone who like Overwatch. I didn't enjoy Marvel Rivals at all. It feels cheap, and not satisfying to play. Time will tell if people actually stick with the game long term.
