Thank you Steve for sharing this ceremony with us.I am always overcome with emotion and as the tears fall, as they always do. I thank with all my heart, the ones who gave their lives and the ones who returned and whose lives were never the same due the horrors of what they lived through.

The Last Post has been sounded at the Menin Gate Ypres, ever since the Memorial was erected, until the Germans invaded Belgium. The Belgiums then stopped the nightly ceremony on 10th May, 1940. Ypres was liberated on the 6th Sept, 1944. and the Ceremony was restarted on the 7th Sept, 1944

Fantastic singing , very atmospheric and fitting true a little stifled giggle from one young lady but not deliberate I think. Well done all and the people and dignities of Belgium.

Lyrics 3:07: Only the truth that in life we have spoken, Only the deeds when our journey is run. These shall pass onwards when we are forgotten only remembered for what we have done. Who’ll sing the anthems, who’ll tell the stories? Will the line hold? Will it scatter and run? Shall we at last be united in glory only remembered for what we have done. Only remembered, only remembered only remembered for what we have done. Shall we at last be united in glory only remembered for what we have done only remembered for what we have done.
