Waking up at 8am and an 8 year old. Opening the curtains to a blue sky and shining sun and being so thankful. Especially with this playing on the radio. Then out to the park to play footy with the lads. Followed by gaming in someone's house. We never knew we were living the best days of our life

Reminds me of a happier time. Back in the late 90s, life was worry free. Music was better in those days too. There were no dumb reality TV singing contents for manufactured artists. Miss the days when every song on Top of the pops was actually bearable.

Keith Appanah We were completely spoilt for choice, we didn’t know we were living in a historical time we certainly never knew each album got better and exceeded the previous, you would hear Ocean Colour Scene, Radiohead, Suede, The Verve, then our if blue I remember first time I heard a song called Live Is The Law at 17 years old by the seahorses, after work I bought the album, it was referred to as the second summer of live and it was that, just beer, whiskey, a drink called Stobe which you can only get on internet, was your first alco pop, wow it was the best & girls were more Randy than us & hell of a lot sexier, bloody super models your ordinary lasses in clubs compares to what you have on TV these days, they didn’t show their full naked body which just made them much sexier, and talent man, you didn’t need X Factor shite which I refuse to watch & un trying to get it pulled as back in 90’s you sang in clubs hoping an A & R man show up & sign you, you just did not need TV Aibfubg shows with females screaming a song that has no melody, no harmony, no clever catchy riff, you didn’t need that shite as we had talent in bucket loads even the American band Presidents Of The United States Of America we’re epic compared to what we have now, it was always summer, it was always happy, happy, happy, no fuckin stress, no depressing female screamers (not singers) it seems like it was a magic time just caught in a time capsule, it seemed everything lead up to that point, to the 90’s, I say between 93-2000, we might have it again it might not be as epic but if X Factor shows were pulled, you’d have to go back to singing in clubs, which gains you experience, gives you your sound, hones your voice & sound, you earn the record contract, you write your own stuff, that’s what would happen again, the film Coyote Ugly, really nailed it showing you what you had to do, I remember needing 10 whiskeys to get on stage first time, not a brilliant singer but I had the hunger, boy did I have the hunger bad to need to write my own stuff & after few year of just fuckin around with two chords (didn’t know they were chords or what they were called lol know Now was Eminor & Asus4), I eventually just became a natural at guitar , now I write songs for local bands, I was in 2 bands in 99’s, every youngster was in a band & that’s just gone out the window, they’ve forgotten the most important thing in music (well it’s 2) MELODY & Hardworking, it gives you the hunger, you need melody & catchy chorus!s that make sense, I went to Ibiza in 98 and we ruled the Dance & Garage Scene, was at bloody knebworth for Oasis, I lived the battle of Oasis v Blur, back then I was die hard Oasis & OCS Fan, started getting really into blur around 98, it was magical man, just talent pouring our everywhere, it had lead to this moment, get rid of your Reality Shows & singing Shows or music industry is finished, it’s the bloody first time in history that the music industry has lost money, we set a bloody record in 90’s, on RV right now, an advert for X Factor saying it’s sold 300 million copies, man, Michael Jackson’s History Album did that back in 95, one man for fuck sake, it should be each artist doing that, Madonna’s Ray Of Light Album sold over 300 million copies, I had a gorgeous girl called Wendy, she was a fuckin stunner and she was obsessed with Madonna’s book that came out, you needed to be over 18 & have a key to open it, that book sold just as much, a fuckin book lol. We didn’t know it at the time even though we had a slight feeling, we were living through the second summer of love, we were living through history. Because hardworking bands like Manic Street Preachers releases Everything Must Go, stunning the fuck out of me & the critics, then Radiohead’s OK Computer, Kula Shakers “K” Album, Travis, their album along with Manics, is considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time, you just don’t get any of that magic now, their is no one coming along with a new, happy, sing along “Don’t Liok Back In Anger” Anthem, we had no voice after getting tapped with a lass that night through shouting lol Don’t Look Back In Anger. Somebody please, for the love of humanity, save this, pathetic, no melody, harmony, blaze of shite, please save this dying music industry, it literally takes 5 mins to write the shite they sing now and THEY ALL SOUND THE EXACT SAME BLOODY THING. To Cast, man thank you for the memories & giving me my hairstyle back then lol, thank you for the girls it brought along, thank you for the ecstasy & happiness.

Every song in UK charts pretty good back in 1997 with Brit Pop. Music landscape totally different with groups & artistes in control of their own output. Today it is very much media lead music seems homogenised and synthetic with keyboards fed through mixer to get high pitched sound.

Glimpse of a forgotten dream.. There is often, perhaps always, a sense that John Power is singing about The La's, about its pure beauty but also perhaps its (relative) stagnation in terms of what he was allowed to do in it.
