I'm still fairly new to cast iron cooking, but I already love it. Thanks Jonny.

One of the few people I have seen start bacon on a cold skillet. I've been doing this since I saw Kent Rollins do it. It sounds contrary to reason but it works great.

Jonny I just wanted to say I like your videos and you are funny and entertaining. With that said I wondered why you have not made any current videos with a lot more items in them such as sausage, peppers, beans and so forth. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing this video! I'm going to try your method of making sure the bacon is at room temperature.

this is like the 2nd place I've seen promote the cold pan/cold bacon method. Still not the best for run-of-the-mill store bought, it still gunked up my pan but not as bad

p.s. what's the "bottomless" skillet you got hanging? the ring with a handle

i would eat all the bacon. Thanks for the video.

What’s the story on the pan with the giant hole in it?

Why not cast iron with ribs in it? I guess it’s easier to clean a flat iron

If I'm making multiple batches or cooking for my family, do I have to let my cast iron cool down every time if I want to do this method? I can probably fit 3-4 pieces of bacon in my largest cast iron skillet.
@jonnymcintyre72453 жыл бұрын
No need to let it cool! Once you remove those first pieces, there will be plenty of fat in the pan to ensure a non-stick cooking experience. Just simply add more pieces and continue to cook as many pieces as necessary. Flip often and enjoy! The cold start method just ensures the beginnings of a beautiful bacon pan without sticking and carbonizing the bottom of the pan, which can hinder the heating process. I often cook for large groups with this method!

I know where you live, so where do I get that bacon?

I ate it! But if you wanna cook the same bacon, it’s Hempler’s original from the butcher case at Haggen!

Agreed! The food histories are intended as a joke. This is stated in the end credits.
