Stars George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman sit down with Consequence of Sound’s Editor-in-Chief Michael Roffman to discuss the new World War I epic, 1917. Together, the three chat about their athletic performances as the two soldiers in peril, the choreography required behind those mammoth long shots, and the research that went into their roles.
Based in part on an account told to Sam Mendes, by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Mendes, 1917 chronicles the breakneck story of two young British soldiers at the height of World War I during the spring of 1917. The two are given the arduous task of delivering a vital message to a British battalion, who are hours away from walking right into a deadly trap: a German ambush that will claim the lives of over 1,600 soldiers.
