@@gregquinn7817 strongly disagree. It's too sleepy of a show. I'd say that Cheers is more of a show about nothing than Seinfeld. If you ask someone who's watched a lot of episodes of both shows, I'm confident they will more vividly recall many episodes, scenes and lines from Seinfeld and have trouble remembering anything specific about Cheers. Cheers was more of a vibe that left general impressions of the characters: the dumb one, the drawn out romance, Carla's insults, etc. Probably the only specific thing they will remember is the theme song and "Norm!" Cheers was one of my favorite shows at the time because it had an ongoing "soap opera" storyline and the actors were mostly excellent, but today it feels too chill and rather drab. In any case Cheers is much more rewatchable than Friends, a truly insipid show that is remembered for the theme song alone.

What made Cheers, Frasier, Mash and Moonlighting my favourite comedies of all time was that they never pandered to the audience. It was quality writing and acting all the time and they held to a standard, and I did not get all the jokes all of the time. With those shows, I found the clever jokes with a mix of double entendre refreshing, and the ones that not everybody would get, the funniest.

@@annettesjoyI grew up on Three's Company and love it. But that is nostalgia playing tricks with your memory. . Watch it now. Brilliant is not a word that should ever be used to describe it. It's as if a team of dim-witted 4 year olds wrote the scripts. And that's barely hyperbole. It is insanely brain dead. So simple it's embarrassing now. It certainly doesn't seem like functioning adults in a creative field wrote it. That's for sure. 😊😅

The summer of 1982, I came back to Boston to visit my parents. My old friends convinced me to leave my 6- month old son with my parents to watch while my friends took me for a Sunday brunch at a restaurant/bar I had never heard of, The Bull & Finch! We waited patiently downstairs at the bar, drinking Madrases, until our Sundsy brunch was served upstairs. We had a good time! One evening, about 2 months later in September, I sit down to watch a new sit-com on TV & I spot a restaurant/ bar that looked idrntical to tje Boston's Bull & Finch! Tslk about Serendipity!!!! Growing up in the 80s and first half of the 90s, I used to think if bars and pubs are just like Cheers, they must be the greatest places on Earth where you meet friends for life. Then towards the later 90s and 2000s I started to frequent bars and pubs and found out it's nothing like the fantasy of the Cheers TV show. I never saw a group of "white collar after work" regular crowd that showed up. Yes I've gone to a bar after work, but it's hardly like Cheers. It's rare to see anyone walk in dressed in a suit and tie, especially after 7pm when the 20 something party crowd shows up. Sometimes a woman has a dress on, but rarely. Usually, people are more dressed in a formal casual way, jeans and dress shirt, or sometimes in recent years just showing up in tracksuit and/or pajamas. I am sure someone will tell me they know a bar similar to Cheers, but all the ones I went to have regular barflies that are toxic people, more scummy folks. Cheers made me think that pubs were frequented by people over 35 on a regular basis, and yes you will find that group every now and then, but it's mostly a young young singles crowd instead of a Cliff Clavin or Norm Peterson. Three's Company's Regal Beagle had a more accurate, true to life bar than Cheers did that's true for the 80s and today, yes Mr. Furley or Mr. Roper could show up, but someone over age 35 or over 40 usually stuck out, and people dressed casually nice instead of walking in with a suit and tie on.

I remember every episode when i was a kid. One of the final episodes, that was pure greatness, was when Rhea Perlman made up one of her strong and famous drinks. Everyone got wasted, passed out at the bar and everyone had a massive hangover the next scene. Cliff called the bar because he didn't know where he was and Sam told him he was in the bar office. 😂 I never saw my Mom and Dad laugh so hard, I was young but I understood it and was laughing as well. It was a great show that will never be reproduced.

and one episode, cliff and norm got drunk and woke up in the office, cliff said, this is weird, my underwear is really loose, norm said, that's odd, my underwear is really tight! and the hilarity ensues!

I was in my forties when "Cheers" stopped airing. Not surprised the cast were stars then, and so many from the whole show, and cast, went on to become "Superstars"! Makes me wonder what I am going to do when I get old.

Getting profound sadness just watching this. Almost tears as I equate this with the passing of time and those good times that can only be experienced as a memory. Life and time so short

The brilliance of the show as well as the magnificent cast, was the fact that they never replaced a character with the same character type. One in a million show.

Great show! During its heyday I went to the Bull N Finch, the bar Cheers was based on, and found it nothing like Cheers. They really created something from scratch and made it great! One of the best theme songs in the history of TV. I was one of the 90 million watching the final episode. I've seen every single one, multiple times.
