As a long time crocheter and a person who has attempted knitting a few times, I get it. It was hard. It was hard. And then, when I started 3 years ago, it just clicked. I learned socks before I found out you weren't supposed to do them as a beginner. LOL I now prefer to knit, but I still enjoy crochet.

That’s why I sent some. There was a yarn from JoAnn she missed in an orange animal stripe pattern. I had about half a cake left after make a sweater and couple hats myself. Sent her that but plus other fun things to make the package worth while.

Per alien hat is amazing what a great crochet hat! The hat that the winner of hooker versus hooker picked was a beautiful hat I love the color work It is a beautiful gradient!

I just received that book! Love it! Thank you for the recommendation! If I use worsted weight yarn & an H or I hook, I get an adult size hat. With 60 stitches. Very informative!

Oh my. That neon with black bats hat, my goodness thats beautiful! I think I've caught your hat bug. I am having so much fun making them. Im on my 4th one in a couple weeks. So fun, and so fast. The two sweaters Im making I just need to do the sleeves on but havent been strong enough yet to do the heavy lifting they need with all the turns. I had a nerve ablation surgery in my lower back yesterday so just doing very light work. Have dental surgery Friday. Hats. Lol. So fun! I look forward to your videos every morning. Its such a nice thing to look forward to every day. Im bedridden and rarely leave the house other than for drs. I cant wait to see you work up that white hat for your daughter. Im planning to make a super fluffy one for my daughter, like the old Russian style ones. A fluffy white hat on her red hair will look incredible. Cant wait for Christmas!

I ordered the alien pattern and found that they suggest using a finger weight yarn, but watching your program it looks like you are using worsted weight yarn. Did I get the right pattern? So how many do you cast on using a worsted worsted weight yarn? 😮

You got the right pattern. I just used the alien chart. Size 6’s cast on 84 in worsted weight (7 chart repeats) Make your ribbing (k1, p1 or k2, p2 your choice) Once I do all the colorwork I want and the hat is a couple inches from my desired length I start my decreases. Decrease 4 the first round (gets you to 80 stitches). Work even round Decreases are as follows, work even round every other round. (K6, K2tog) around 70 stitches (K5, K2tog) around 60 stitches (K4, K2tog) around 50 stitches (K3, K2tog) around 40 stitches (K2, K2tog) around 30 stitches (K1, k2tog) around 20 stitches (K2tog) around 10 stitches Break yarn, weave through live stitches and fasten off.
