I'm afraid this didn't work for me. I didn't get the same drop down screen after clicking on casting.--got a list of all the devices in the house available to cast to, but clicking on any of them did nothing. I've fiddled back and forth but can't get the same result as shown.

On some configs you can only cast videos from within chrome, so the casting choices will be greyed out until you play a youtube video for example.

👎 Your tv does not need to be smart. All work is doing by chromecast which can make your TV to be smart (in case that it is not already, but in this case I don’t see the need of the chromecast) . Anyway, you should have explained first how you make the setup for the chromecast and then to show us how it is working. 👎

There are 2 things: 1. if you will cast - you may get screen only at the casted screen 2. you will get mirrored display on both host abd the guest(casted) screen 1st case - TV app could help you to get screen capture if 2nd case - you could capture the screen from your host screen

I did not tried it with other cast device, however even if it is not working for other cast device there are numerous applications which will help you to achieve the screen mirroring/casting feature. BTW, could you please let me know which device you want to cast, sharing its model number would be helpful. on basic of that I could recommend you some options/alternative to do the same.

Definitely your laptop/computer screen will be mirrored once you do it with chrome browser until you wont close the browser, however both the device should be on the same network either via WiFi or Ethernet. It doesn't allow me to cast whole desktop. It only allow me to cast youtube. It's says "Available for specific video sites". But it's better than nothing.

In recent Windows update, they are monitoring for the copywrite videos or images even when you cast, if it will detect any suspicious activity even once it wont allow you to cast you whole desktop screen but after some day it will allow until next suspicious activity detected. this happens with me once.

Well if you could see, you have all the three options available: 1. cast Tab - will cast the the only one tab from your chrome browser 2. cast desktop - will cast the whole desktop/screen (after casting just minimize the chrome browser and do whatever you want) 3. cast file - will cast the only file or the folder from your computer.

before doing it you need to keep few things in you mingd: 1. you should google chrome browser. you computer and tv should be on the same network. 2. after clicking on cast, is you computer detecting the t.v(where to cast). 3. it will as you to select the screen area. At this time you need to select entire screen/desktop and then click on cast or ok.

Watch the video carefully, with the help of browser, whole computer screen is getting mirrored on the T.V which is also know as casting the display (screen). you could minimize the browser and use it. In this case google chrome browser is acting/working as display casting/mirroring application.

Mozilla Firefox browser is not having this option, however you could do it with Microsoft edge browser (Click on 3 dots on RHS top corner of the browser > Click on "more tools" > Click on "Cast media to device")

It depends upon the following things: 1. Wireless connectivity 2. wireless bandwidth 3. latest wireless or the old type of wireless (eg: N series or G series) 4. u can use HDMI cable VGA to reduce it it almost 0% delay.
