Remember this playing at the end of the live TV coverage of England's exit from Euro 96 on pens at the hands of ze bloody germans... summed up how deflated the whole country seemed to feel in that moment. Still a bloody great summer though. It seemed like the start of great things for English football and I felt a pair of tits in my hands for the first time. I was utterly convinced that life would be nothing short of non stop fun from that summer onwards. Oh the summer of '96... 💕

I agree. I was 20 in the Summer of ‘96. It was bloody great. It felt like anything was possible. I feel England experienced the crest of a cultural wave that Summer with Britpop, clubbing and football peaking.
