It's the province of Trapani. Città di Castellammare del Golfo is the municipality. Sicily is the region.

My grandfather came from there . Galante is my last name. He was a fisherman named Andrew, my middle name.

Hi there, thanks for your comment, its a beautiful part of Sicily that's for sure. We watched the fisherman selling their fish in the mornings

Any relation to Carmine Galante by chance? Parents came from Castellammare del Golfo like your grandfather did. Or maybe Galante is a fairly common regional/Sicilian surname?

@@tonyducks1121 I do believe it is a popular name over there but I was told that he was a distant cousin on my farther’s side , 3rd or 4th something like that. I believe my dad knew some people but thankfully didn’t get involved in that life.

@@Phil-G1075 Oh wow, small world. You ain't kidding about avoiding that life, just ask Carmine Galante. Should have been a fisherman like your Grandpa. Much healthier lifestyle.

Ciao ragazzi! I randomly came across your video today, which I really enjoyed, because I am researching a lot of areas in Sicily. My name is Paul and I'm an American, 54, who now lives in Florence, Italy. In the spring I am looking to relocate to Sicily. One of the towns I'm considering is Castellamare del Golfo. The main thing I am looking for is an apartment that is right along the sea and has seaviews. What are your opinions of the best seaside towns to live in Sicily long term? Any thoughts, opinions, or recommendations would be sincerely appreciated. Grazie mille, Paul in Firenze

Thank you for your message Paul. Personally there are so many beautiful seaside towns I can recommend. It really depends on whether you like tourist places or quiet places. Sicily becomes very busy in the Summer as not only foreigners visit but the Italians from the north. We love the summer buzz and vibe in these small towns so for us it would be Cefalu, Castelmare del Golfo and Ortigia. They have a community feel they are small enough and yet big enough for the quite off peak season. They have markets, banks, shops and village feel which is what we are attracted to. And of the course the food. Also the location of these towns have so much to offer nearby so you won't be bored. Cefalu & Castelmare del Golfo is near airport and Palermo and stunning beaches like San Vito. Ortigia's nearest airport and major city is Catania and also has beautiful towns and beaches nearby.

@@travelwithmrmrsc549 Thank you very much for your thoughts. I have been looking into Origia and Castellamare del Golfo. From what I have been researching on apartments, it looks like Cefalu may be too expensive, but of course it is beautiful there. There are many differences between the West and East coasts of Sicily, but both are amazing I'm sure. Thank you again for your reply. Paul
