Castelluccio è una frazione di Norcia ed è uno dei centri abitati più elevati negli Appennini (1.452 m slm).
Purtroppo il terremoto nel 2016 ha distrutto molte abitazioni private e pubbliche. Castelluccio è posto in cima ad un colle che si eleva sull’omonimo altopiano formatosi dopo il prosciugamento di un antico lago. L’altopiano ha una estensione di circa 15 km² costituita dal Pian Grande, dal Pian Piccolo e dal Pian Perduto. Di fronte si erge imponente e maestosa la sagoma del Monte Vettore che con i suoi 2.476 mt. è la cima più alta della catena dei Monti Sibillini.
Castelluccio è ormai conosciuto in tutto il mondo perché fra fine maggio e la metà di luglio, l’altopiano è testimone di un evento di particolare importanza, la Fioritura.
Per diverse settimane la monotonia cromatica del pascolo, viene spezzata da un mosaico di colori, con variazioni di toni che vanno dal giallo ocra al rosso.
Le specie floreali che tingono il Pian Grande e il Pian Perduto in questo periodo, sono innumerevoli, camminando lungo i sentieri possiamo incontrare: genzianelle, narcisi, violette, papaveri, ranuncoli, asfodeli, viola Eugeniae, trifogli, acetoselle e tant’altro.
Tuttavia non è possibile stabilire una data precisa per la fioritura in quanto questa dipende dai fattori climatici, sole, piogge, temperature, fattori che variano di anno in anno.
Una raccomandazione, o meglio un ORDINE: non calpestate i prati fioriti per farvi delle fotografie, un irrispettoso ne attira cento e dopo i campi, coltivati con fatica dai contadini, vengono rovinati!

Unfortunately, the earthquake in 2016 destroyed many private and public homes. Castelluccio is located on top of a hill that rises on the plateau of the same name formed after the drying up of an ancient lake. The plateau has an extension of about 15 km² consisting of Pian Grande, Pian Piccolo and Pian Perduto. Opposite stands the imposing and majestic silhouette of Mount Vettore which with its 2,476 meters. it is the highest peak of the Sibillini Mountains.
Castelluccio is now known all over the world because between the end of May and mid-July, the plateau witnesses a particularly important event, the Flowering.
For several weeks the chromatic monotony of the pasture is broken up by a mosaic of colors, with variations of tones ranging from yellow ocher to red.
The floral species that color the Pian Grande and Pian Perduto in this period are innumerable, walking along the paths we can meet: gentianella, narcissus, violets, poppies, buttercups, asphodels, purple Eugeniae, clovers, sorrel and much more.
However, it is not possible to establish a precise date for flowering as this depends on climatic factors, sun, rains, temperatures, factors that vary from year to year.
A recommendation, or rather an ORDER: do not trample the flowery meadows to take pictures, one disrespectful attracts a hundred and then the fields, cultivated with difficulty by the farmers, are ruined!
