Actually, I'm not sure that's true, "Cas is nothing without Dean." I think, for instance, that Castiel would have eventually rebelled against Heaven's plan to force the Apocalypse. Problem is, he would have rebelled too late. Because of Dean, he rebelled just in time -- not to stop Lucifer rising, but to stop the rest of the Apocalypse from occurring. So I'd say I agree with you halfway.
