Zwischen dem azurblauen Meer und den grünen Hügeln des Hinterlandes liegt das hübsche Fischerstädtchen Castiglione della Pescaia. Der beliebte Badeort ist sowohl in Italien, als auch international besonders für seine schönen Strände und seine prächtigen Pinienhaine bekannt, deren herrliche Pineta del Tombolo bis nach Marina di Grosseto reichen. Sein pittoreskes Stadtbild, ein gut ausgebautes System an Unterkünften und der moderne, aber dennoch idyllische Hafen locken seit Jahren viele Feriengäste an, die hier ihren Urlaub verbringen können.
Oberhalb der Stadt liegt die von einer Mauer mit Türmen und mächtigen Toren umschlossene, mittelalterliche Altstadt, an deren höchster Stelle sich die alles überragende Festung aus dem 15. Jh. erhebt.

Above the town lies the medieval old town, enclosed by a wall with towers and mighty gates, at the highest point of which rises the all-surpassing 15th century fortress.
