Recycled some scrap hard drives into a magnet vise for sharpening chainsaws. Lost foam Casting Melting metal is dangerous and should be down at your own risk. Lots of people get hurt. Your skin may heal but your eyes wont. Wear PPE.

Okay now it makes a lot more sense at the end That's a video it's for sharpening a chainsaw and to make sure it doesn't move around That's a good idea 💡

Works great on our chipper! Haven’t played with the oil burner. I have some ideas but need to source some materials. Project for the fall when it cools down

Love the idea! Well done. Only question I have is how to get those magnetics off the metal so they can be used on something else.
@stevesrt82 күн бұрын
I grip the bracket with some vise grips. Then bang it on something hard like a bench vise. You will see the magnet shift. Then you can slide it off. You do lose the metal coating on the back but it doesn’t matter if you plan to epoxy it down. Cheers

Bro, why did you cut the video so short? Only 1 pour? Also I don't know why your lost foam doesn't smoke nearly as much as mine.
@stevesrt82 күн бұрын
Yeah. The video is for a bit of a competition with some other guys. We were limited to 5 mins max. I had to cut a lot lol. I find you get a lot cleaner pour if you leave the bare minimum sticking out of the sand. Plus keeping a full cab helps as well I think. Cheers
@HeinrichsMadeКүн бұрын
@@stevesrt8 oh I see. I don't leave a lot sticking out of the sand normally. So that's definitely not the case , 🤣
@stevesrt8Күн бұрын
@@HeinrichsMade they were beauty pours. They all don’t go like that. I think a thinner coat helps with ventilation g also. Maybe you’re a bit thicker than mine e.

That's cool. Is there a way to cast the magnets in the metal?
@stevesrt8Күн бұрын
I don’t know what that temperature would do to the magnets.
