Happy Thursday everyone! This project was not the easiest by any means because they were so thin and fragile. I hope you all enjoy and I’ll see you in the next one!

Those are amazing. Very delicate, but beautiful. I love old, rustic keys.
@TechneMoira3 жыл бұрын
You're right, the rustic raw look of it has something appealing...maybe you could "age" the keys with some vinegar or such to give them a truly old appearance?

Awesome project. The lid of your pressure chamber seems to have cracks around the meter-hole. Hope thats just a camera-illusion!?

Really interesting cast - I can see how really fine work like that is a challenge! Do you think having exit holes (sprues?) for the keys near the top would help at all? Either way really cool video! 👍

Would it have helped to pour the metal on the vacuum chamber? Love watching lost wax pouring. Thanks for sharing

ADAM I think they turned out pretty good well not the 2 the broke on you. When you were putting the wax things on the keys not to sure if it's the camera but looks like you had the shakes.👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦

Ha it’s sped up really fast which is why it looks like that. It literally took me almost 2 hours to get the sprues onto the little tiny pieces. They kept falling off 🤦🏻♂️ it’s definitely not as easy as it looks.

Nice hey bud ever considered putting the plaster mold in the devil forge after pouring in the metal and heating it up to make sure there's no voids just an idea not sure if it's worth it or not. Keys came out nice glad at least 2 survived getting cleaned up 👌

Great video dude! I'm not sure if it was the thinness of the keys, given you cast without any vacuum, there will have been a lot of porosity in the pieces and trapped air. And I think your alloy could be altered a bit to be stronger, rather than a roughly mixed aluminium bronze 😅 Tin bronze at 5% tin and 95% copper is still pretty strong, even with a few percent aluminium for extra shininess. I've found too much aluminium in an alloy makes it rather brittle. I've literally pulled apart trees with my bare hands with aluminium bronzes 🤣 Hard, but weak :)

But the title, for the video says “anywhere”. 👈 Not everybody has all the stuff he used in the video to make the casting.

Great video love the channel but you don't cast keys! They are stamped or turned and filed like the old days. Very difficult adaptation. Cool though
@RaspyOB1743 жыл бұрын
Just need to study the strongest brass mixtures and metallurgical strengthening techniques for them to become beyond art. I know the channel is art centric but I'm a useful bastard. Would take incredible amount of jeweler time to file and shape each key from blanks so I appreciate the detail casting technique. Scale up the dimensions a tad and play with brass tempering. Would watch. Badass job. Thanks for the video.
