Great line test video of the Gaelforce 14-6. I am amazed by the slow strength of your cast - I really need to slow my cast down a bit. I assume that you had the floating tip on for this. Can you tell me about the leader you were using? The turn-over was wonderful.

Thank you very much for your nice comments 🙂👍. It depends of the rod but quite often i’ve notice that when i slow down my casting tempo, i have better feeling/touch to a rod and to a cast. If i’m in fishing trip and after few days of fishing, my casts start to go down/worst, usually helps when i do the casts slower. I had a sinking tip on a Gaelforce EEMT multi-tip fly lines. Lenght of the leader depends the situation but in this video leader is about 4,5 m / cirka 15’

And one thing is that the video is recorded by 120 fps = slow motion. First casts is made with #8/9 EEMT flyline and it flies quite fast. Next casts are made with #9/10 EEMT flyline and it flies much slower.. But it doesn’t look like that on a video.

Hi, nice video and casting, just wondering what running line you are using?
@JackaHeineken3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aidan! Thank you sir for the kind words! I can't be sure which running line we are talking about...during this video we had different fly lines and different running lines. Our favorites are A) Vision Control ( not the newest one ) B) Loop sds C) SA USL Ultimate shooting line. Also the Gaelforce running line is good, acting nicely...it is a bit too soft, though. And i have new Hardy running line waiting for a tests.

EEMT #8/9 it was 60lbs Power flex mono. EEMT #9/10 it was Loop SDS 42lbs coated runningline.

@@BigFly028 I prefer more to coated runningline, Vision 0.039" Control, Vision new 0.036" Rannari runningline, Loop SDS or Gaerforce runningline. I use the green Big Game already in the 90´s, and 50bls Savada and 50lbs Amnesia. Nothing good at those. So Power flex is only one more mono runningline. Power flex feels harder. My opinion is that coated runninglines keep the belly more tight in the cast. So fewer bends in the line and better turn over. Coated runningline are also floating and mono sinks.

What do you think what the best longheadspeyline to Day? John
@JackaHeineken3 жыл бұрын
john vesetrud Hi John! It depends...if you want speyline with integrated running line, Gaelforce speylines are the best ones we have tried. If you dont mather, if running line is integrated or not, then i favour Nextcast flylines. We are using both style of longer belly flylines. Nextcast flylines tend to fly further, but i like more integrated running lines, so these days my choise is Gaelforce ( i havent try new Carron speylines, they can be good too ).

What would you say is the difference between Gealforce Destination 14'6" and CND Voyager 14'6"?
@JackaHeineken3 жыл бұрын
Both rods flex to a bottom, when casting. But G. Destination rod bends less, is stiffer, faster, more power and because of that, more suitable for a all-round rod. It is more 15`#10/11 type of rod but smaller, lighter in use. To me, i felt immidiately that i don't need 15`rods anymore. I made long casts easily and more lighter, than i have done with any 15`rod in the markets i have own / tried. But if i would use mostly long belly speylines in my fishing, then my choice would be somewhere 15`- 16`rods but because i don't use them so much, i sold my 15`rod and I bought G. Destination 14`6" #9/10 and i have been happy about it. I hope this helps you...have you tried CND GT steelhead fly rod? This is one of the best rods length between14`1" - 14`9" but to me G. Destination rod is better because it has more backbone in it. Both rods are easy to cast, both rods has lot of backbone, both rods bends to a bottom, but Gaelforce is giving more speed to a fly line. Voyager 14`and 14`6" rods are more softer and not for harder winds and they lack some power, when lifting up sinking shooting heads. About 15`Voyager I can't say anything. I hope this short answer helps you to choose best rod for you.

@@JackaHeineken Many thanks for your reply 🙏 I have owned BV GT 15’ #9/10/11 but sold it. Great rod but wants heavy lines. In many cases >44 gram. That's just too much for me. Heavy rod, heavier reel, heavy line, heavy everything... I have tried BV GT steelhead. Have not made so many casts and it was some time ago. I remember the rod had a good backbone and deep bend. However 14'6" is more appealing length to me. I'm also looking for a rod between 14'1" and 14'9" 9/10 that can replace my 15 footers. I end up never using them for fishing only practice every now and then.

@@JackaHeineken What reel do you use to balance it?
Seems your older videos are with 4pc version? Those videos look equally great to me :) What made you order 6pc version instead (because it's faster, has more backbone, generate higher line speed I assume?). Would you say that 4pc version is good for sinking lines? The EEMT line in this video. Do you prefer 8/9 version or 9/10 version? I saw that on gealforce website they recommend 8/9.
