Before I left home this was my local station. Unremarkable then, but this was before the land was built upon. It's a bit different today! It was a standard 8mm film so the quality isn't great!

Delightful glance back to calmer times! It’s hard to imagine everything looked so bucolic so close to central London. Since everything has been built on, these scenes are distant dreams!

Yes, it was a little rural oasis within the housing estates. I spent many happy hours there as a kid.

Thanks so much for posting this. So many memories brought back to life, seeing my favorite places to play when I was a kid. All of those beautiful fields and majestic trees gone for ever, replaced with bland but much needed housing.

We moved into Harp Road in 1959. The diesel railcars had taken over the passenger services but steam goods trains were still in use. I was about eight and took my three years ish younger sister to the station to see the trains. The platforms were still the original timber and the joints were loose. When a steam loco pulling a few goods wagons came through the whole station shook and rattled and a certain young sister went screaming down the road. 🤣🤣

I lived on Cleveland Road and knew this very well. 'SHED AGRO' graffiti on the station-name sign! (Chelsea FC hooligans)
